This was a real stinker. I see on TV.com that it rates the third worst episode, with the Young Lords being worse and the Magnificent Warriors being the worst. Hey, I rather liked the Magnificent Warriors, though I thought it was the kind of episode that should come much later, when it would have been a refreshing change, perhaps.

It's interesting that in the reimagined series, the mutiny episodes are also among the weakest. I'm thinking mostly of Sacrifice, but also Dirty Hands and to some extent Black Market. Home worked much better, but it was not really a mutiny. Bastille Day worked, but you expect prisoners to revolt, not ordinary citizens.

Come to think of it, the original series did a lot better job of setting up for a mutiny. They showed and suggested unrest throughout the series. However, it still didn't work, because they made the mutineers into comic book villains. It's hard to imagine large numbers of individuals going "evil".

Maybe if the villain was a Khan-like genetically enhanced superhuman, it could have worked. But the wimpy kid with an afro didn't pull it off.
