Post Razor: Fall of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

I created this thread because I need YOUR help. One of our members offered some information regarding the scene in Razor covering the Fall of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards. We'd like to verify the information for the member before updating the wiki.

I've already made a post in the article's talk page but thought I'd craft this thread to reach those who don't read the wiki talk pages.

A user sent us an e-mail saying a third Valkyrie class Battlestar is in the scene in Razor covering the Fall of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards. I do not have Razor in front of me. Could someone please verify this claim and then let me know so I can contact the user?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Jonathan,

There were indeed three Valkyrie-class battlestars seen during the Cylon attack on the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards. Two of them can be seen in U-shaped docks similar to that which the Pegasus is in. These are the two ships that get hit almost from the first fram of the Cylon attack. The third Valkyrie-class battlestar can be seen in the background of the scene where a Cylon Raider launches two nuclear missiles at the Pegasus, once the Pegasus starts spooling up her FTL drives. The missiles drop out of the internal weapons bays of the Raider, and in the background, another missile slams into the side of a Valkyrie-class battlestar that is moored to the space station only on one side, the port side.

In addition, in the opening shots of the Shipyards, one Galactica-type ship can be seen in a U-shaped dock at the top-right of the Shipyards, and one other large vessel can be seen in the dock next to that of the Pegasus. Personally, I found the shots in the attack to be rather hard to match up to the scene of the Shipyard seen in the opening shot. I think much of the confusion about exactly how many battlestars are in the scene is due to the shooting.

Thank you very much for your response. I was beginning to wonder if anyone would post in this thread. I'll have to send the user an e-mail to update him on the status of this. I'm very appreciative.

I'd say it isn't necessary anymore since it has served its purpose. Thank you for keeping watch.

Personally, I attribute this discrepancy to the timeframe between that shot and the attack on the yards being long enough for several ships to come and go.

There are also a couple of the Berzerk-type ships. I thought that those were pretty cool.

The "Bezerk" designation is actually fanon. I always thought it was a bit of a ridiculous name, particularly as it's not even spelled properly.

I'm assuming that the ships don't have a name. They're definitely not Battlestars, but they're about the size of Galactica, judging by how big they are next to a Mercury class. So, what the hell are they?

This is about the geekiest post I've done in a while. Quick, someone knight me with a lightsaber.

The pic is a bit hazy, but I'd venture (in an uneducated guess kind of way) that its a supply vessel. The 3d render looks a bit over gunned to me, albeit a cool design nonetheless. But I suppose it could be a field-of-fire suppression escort, or something.

According to the wiki, this is another Battlestar. However, due to the lack of flight pods and only 1 hangar bay (bottom), this seems more like a support vessel. It's heavy weaponry doesn't seem to match that of a supply ship, but more of a Naval Destroyer/Cruiser equivalent, if the Battlestars are Naval Battleships/Carriers.

Side note: it looks somewhat similar to the Cylon freighter.

I just don't see all the armament, and I've been watching Razor today.

But it's cool.

I like it, looks kind of like the Battleship to the Aircraft Carrier.

I agree with pagad that this designation is fanon, and that we really just can't say for sure what the hell it is. The size, lack of flight pods, and armament do suggest some sort of escort or support ship, as The Dirt wrote above. If you check out the fanart album at my profile page, there are samples of other support and escort ships that various people have come up with and modeled.

Oh, and Dirt, consider yourself knighted. Now go out and spend an outrageous sum on costumes and a lightsaber of your own, so that you can show up at your office Halloween party dressed as a Jedi Master/Sith Lord. Your choice, depends on if you want to use your powers for good or evil, young padwan. And may the Force be with you!
