I'm not sure if anyone still remembers but there used to be this Sci Fi Channel programming block that started in the summer of 2000 called "S.C.I.F.I. World".
The basic idea was to play different marathons on each weekday based on a theme, and S.C.I.F.I. World was a theme-park:
Superhero Land (Monday)
Creature Land (Tuesday)
Intergalactic Land (Wednesday)
Fantastic Land (Thursday)
Inhuman Land (Friday)
Since there's pretty near to nil of information about it, I wrote up what I could two articles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.C.I.F.I._World + http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_S.C.I.F.I._World_shows ).
Anyone remember catching it or am I the only one?

I remember watching it here and there. I believe it had things like Lost in Space, the old BSG, the Incredible Hulk, and other older shows.

Ah, back in the days when the Sci Fi Channel played more SF shows than:
Wrestling
Horror
Psychic
Action comedy
Parody
Paranormal
Way too much fantasy
What the SF Channel needs is a competitor. A channel that plays nothing but SF shows and movies, old and new. Themed days and nights would work, and all shows would be shown in their original air order, no matter how short. The Good, Bad, and Ugly shows can be shown. One could even make a day where shows from a specific week in that year were aired.
Of course, original shows are welcome, and the occasional fantasy would be fine.

Oh man, I totally forgot about that! I remember it, that was pretty cool.
I'd love to see a return to serious Sci Fi programming, Spencerian. It's been getting worse for a while, but when I first saw that they were playing wrestling on SciFi, I had to jump back with the Tivo a few times because I thought I'd heard wrong...I just couldn't believe the SF channel would do something that stupid.

I just couldn't believe the SF channel would do something that stupid.I remember there was a fake press release a year ago saying that on November 1 (2006), Sci Fi was going to change their name to SurgeTV to aim for a different demographic by airing more wrestling, more late-night risque programming, and the English-language debut of Mexico's Lucha Libre wrestling events.... (here's the Fark thread (http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=2249915)) I didn't rule out the change since The Nashville Network turned into Spike, but I found out it was false.
Still though.. Sci Fi wasn't what it used to be.

I do remember that, way back in the day, Sci Fi Channel did actually have science fiction content -- much to the surprise of many here, no doubt. :-)
There was also a Sci-Fi news thing that Chase Masterson (Leeta on DS9) hosted. I think Harlan Ellison also did something as well for the channel way back in the 90s, if I recall correctly.

I don't know, I kind of like Spike, whereas TNN was lame.
On the other hand, the same transformation would majorly suck for SciFi.
