Can somebody tell me what are the special features on American version of Battlestar Galactica season 1,2 and 3 and the Miniseries?
I'm thinking of buying them on DVD but this will be European version and there are only deleted scenes on every season and I don't know if it's worth it :). Thanks.

If you want extras get the US versions. They have all the audio commentaries, some extra audio commentaries, video blogs and other stuff.

The dollar is very weak anyways, so it's also cheap. The only problem is that Season 2 is split, but the Miniseries is included in Season 1.

Battlestar Wiki to the rescue:

R1 Season 3 is really, really worth it, since the UK set has no extras whatsoever.
R1 Season 1 has audio commentaries for some episodes before the podcasts. The UK Season 2 set has no extras for the second half which sucks too. The UK Miniseries set has no audio commentary.

You can get the video blogs online though.

Thank you good man :D I was thinking of buying American copy. The only problem is the region but I could make a copy (what is legal in Poland) and change region so I will be able to watch it. Gotta think about it.

You can't change the regions of the discs. What you do is change your DVD player to Region 0, so it plays everything.

Sometimes that can be done with the remote control. Sometimes you need to download a new firmware and and flash the player (same with computer drives). Google your model name and "region free" or "code free". If it's a decent model, it can be done.

Actually, what aylinn's saying is that you can strip the region coding on copies of DVD discs you decrypt... not the actual, original DVD source itself.

Although you can certainly flash new firmware on your DVD player to make it region free. But if you don't have the know-how to do that, or fear bricking your player, the DVD copy option is viable.

I gotta a DVD ripper that alows me to change a region to 0. Now the problem is shipment that will cost me at least $15-20 dollars (I hope). I could spend it but then I would have to start eating grass and drink water :D But either BSG or calories ;)

Yeah, but what's the point? You have a security copy of your discs, but getting a proper DVD player is far easier in the long run. You just have to do it once and it takes only a few minutes. Ripping the DVDs is just silly.

As for shipping:
I payed 10$ for expedited shipping on Amazon. It costs more the more items you order, but that's not too bad really. Especially considering that I get about $1.50 for 1€. Some companies charge the same for national shipping and this is overseas.

Oh, frak me! I've ordered the EU version yesterday and now I come across this thread :(
At least I haven't received it yet, so I'll just send it back immediately and order the Region 1 stuff :D

On a slightly unrelated note: I can understand cutting some stuff in the EU versions to be able to save space for more audio languages and subtitles, but the BSG DVDs do not have other languages and subtitles, so why the hell did they not include the other stuff?
I really feel being a second class citizen on this front

It may have something to do with licensing of the special features themselves. No one really knows for sure, though.

Where did you get the DVD ripper and how much was it?

Yay! I just got the 3rd season on DVD from the USA. And it's working just fine :D I don't need to rip it or anything.
Gods, this is the best day of my life :)
