More Star Wars crap... Frak.

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a Star Wars fan, but this felgercarb with expanding the Star Wars ad nauseum is going to result in dangerous levels of franchise fatigue to Star Trek proportions.

Star Wars was pretty good up until the point where Lucasfilm decided to milk the franchise for every frakking buck it could. Action figures, cheap-o-plastic lightsabers, books up the arse... Fleshing out a universe is one thing, but tell stories that are worth telling... because Star Wars is really starting to look like Star Trek to me, particularly with all the "Outbound Flight" crap from Timothy Zahn, "New Jedi Order" (the Star Trek: The Next Generation of the Star Wars franchise, frankly), etc., etc.

Oh, well, another story being flushed down the drain for the almighty buck... :(

Yeah, there is definitely a point where you need to just sit back and let the series retire. Star Wars will definitely jump over the line with this idea. Heck, Star Trek did it I think with 'Enterprise.' I'm dreading/waiting for the new movie to come out, wondering if it's going to be good or not.

Well, when the TV show comes out, I'll definitely watch an episode or two to get the gist. No series is sacred anymore. Just hope they don't push BSG that far.

Oh, I'll watch the series, but I don't feel too good about it... I don't think Star Wars will work on the tube. It's kind of a "movie" thing and the "Star Wars" method of story telling doesn't work well on the TV medium....

This is similar to Star Trek trying to work in the movie medium. Short of one or two examples, (The Wrath of Khan and the Voyage Home) it hardly works well.

"Outbound Flight" crap from Timothy Zahn,

Joe, all due respect, but go to hell. I agree with the rest of your post, but Outbound Flight was excellent. Timothy Zahn can't do wrong when it comes to Star Wars. For SW, I limit myself to the movies, the Knights of the Old Republic games, and Zahn's books.

Oh, I agree that Zahn can't do wrong when it comes to Star Wars. I happen to believe he's the best writer that has ever tackled SW, other than A.C. Crispin with her Han Solo trilogy. Jeter, Savatore, Stockpole, Anderson, et al... basically write inferior books.

Whoever really thought that Han and Leia should have kids, and those kids should be Star Wars' equivalent of Jedi-powered Wesley Crushers, should really be lined up and shot.

Well, I dunno if it was Zahn's idea, but Han & Leia's twins were born in one of Zahn's books.

We'll I can't wait. I'm sure this will make you guys all warm and fuzzy inside but they're scheduled for 400...repeat...400 episodes. Holy crap I'll be old by the time they finish.

*blink*

That must be a typo.

Nobody schedules a show for 400 episodes.

It's just not done.

Especially without even so much as a pilot. I mean, I know it's Star Wars but comon, that doesn't mean the show won't completely suck.

After new Sar Wars I don't feel like watching anything connected with this. I can watch old part and moments in new where there is Natalie Portman but that's it. Sorry Lucas, I love your movies but this one was a crap.

I think his expectations for the new movies just plummeted... he rode the success of the original trilogy and just didn't put the effort into these new ones that he should have. Whether or not he'll do that with show? I dunno. I'm sure he's counting on a lot of Star Wars fans just to like it because it is Star Wars.

I don't think it will work... especially if it is on Cartoon Network... they are just going to frak up the series more. It won't hit the right audience. They are going to change things around in order to fit CN. It's just going to be a mess, a disappointing mess.

I think Maddox's review of Episode III summed up everything that is wrong with Star Wars.

Yeah, Maddox was right. I will never forgive Lucas what he did to Anakin and the reason why he joined the dark side. And the way Padme died? This was so pitiful I wanted to leave the cinema and ask for giving me back my money I spend for the ticket.
I'll never forget how pissed I was. I liek effects and all but the plot was just pathetic.

Well all the different sources I've seen said so but, it might not be scheduled but it is definantley planned to be 400 episodes long. I know I thought the same as you but I did reasearch and found it that they did indeed schedule or at least plan for 400 episodes. It's a lot of damned episodes now that I think more of it.:shocked::shocked:

i'm guessing, given the costs involved in televised scifi, that it's a 4 show commitment, not 400....

the simpsons has been on the air since 1989, and has 400ish episodes...but thats a (close to) twenty year run....

Zod

maybe it will be 400 5 minute episodes like The Clone Wars series 1 cartoons???

Steelviper

The Simpsons analogy is spot on. 20 seasons of 20 episodes... even for a sure thing that's insane. Will the network it shows on even exist in 20 years? Will the TV medium resemble what it is today in 20 years?
