His old act used to be him in drag basicly, he was famous for his cross dressing. But not like dressed as a woman, just in womans clothing. Its kinda hard to explain unless you saw him. Totally straight though.

Tying this in to BSG, whenever I hear the creshendo at the end of Tool's H, I always have the mental image of the Battle of Ragnar Station.
Right after Maynard's last "I don't minnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd" as Danny Carey starts hammering, I think of the Galactica opening up with all her guns as she stands between the Fleet and the Cylons.

Key words: of the moment. Not of forever.
New album? New band, even? Old favourite that you haven't listened to in months or years? Guilty pleasure that you really shouldn't be liking? Been to a really good gig that you can't stop gushing on about?

Are a good band. Actually, I need to get another album from them, I like the first so much. But this is off topic!
I am listening to the new Bloc Party album at them moment and I have to say I am quite liking it. There's some awesome guitar-and-drum based songs - which is where they're at their strongest - and some quite experimental stuff mixed in, which isn't as bad as I feared it might be, aside from the first single Mercury which I hate. The impression I'm getting is that it's Bloc Party's version of Radiohead's Hail to the Thief, rather than going down the Kid A full-electronic-weirdness route.

Just about every time I put a song on using the computer lately, I put it on, and every time I turn on the radio at work, I hope to hear it.
Disturbed - Into the Fire
It just grabbed me musically when I first heard it, then I saw the *whole* video, including the PSA announcement by Dave Draiman (lead singer) about how the song deals with a subject that he's been unfortunately so close to in his own past and it's just such a powerful song and video.....
And, of course, that laugh at the beginning.....

My brother and I just tried singing those lyrics with Bohemian Rhapsody playing in the background. Much lols were had.
I am listening to lots of Kings of Leon at the moment. I love Caleb Followill's voice. And they have a new album out soon, I am rather excited.

THIS! (isn't true - my name is Winston Salem)
Um, I like them anyway. They sound like a grindcore band trying to do Depeche Mode music. They are borderline unlistenable until the good bits which are fleeting but when it's on, it's on.
I really like their lyrics. Particularly the one that says 'flames will walk the Earth' from the song 'Things Don't Look Good'. It gives me chills.
I'll listen to them obsessively until I suck the joy out of it. You know, like in the Bible.

Of course; who would go pot-holing without helmet and flashlight?

Right, because I'm not American I literally couldn't care less about the music of serial kiddy-worrier Michael Jackson at all.
So it's quite odd that I've just listen to THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA2uMXTHad4&feature=related) three times in a row despite it being 2.30 in the morning here.
Louis Johnson could literally kill you with his slapping thumb.

Have you forgotten that stuff like this exists or have you never never let it fiddle with you? This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q25nUY3iEE) takes a bit more effort but bassically, groovically, electric-pianically and brassically it's much more rewarding. I don't think you watched enough seventies porn in VI form.

right now Barenaked Ladies with their "Big Bang Theory" song. Its the theme from show of same name, really awesome song. Also I really like right now Brooks & Dunn with their "One More Roll of the Dice" song. And with "One More Roll of the Dice" song it actually makes me think of Battlestar Galactica, LoL yea i know crazy a country song doing it. But I think its a perfect song for the Lee/Starbuck love situation plus reminds me of also just Vipers flying around fighting. This is from the song really sounds like Lee/Starbuck:
One more roll of the dice
Maybe just one more shot in the dark
One more chance that your luck might change
While you still got a little somethin' left of your heart
She's a game you can play, not a game you can win
But one more roll of the dice and your believing again
highly recommend the song. Well thats just me though lol

anyway, today has been;
Ella Fitzgerald (she rocks the face clean off your body).
She's ace. So I listened to Billie Holiday. She's gash (in comparison) although not as gash as Amy Winehouse who is this decade's version of the same thing (jazz diva with a playful love of heroin). Amy is even more gash*. Ella FTW.

Today, the students had the day off, so the teachers could come in and write curriculum maps for the courses being taught by each of us this year. I had two to write, so I put on some nice Bach violin sonatas and partitas with Itzhak Perlman, and after that, some Mozart violin concertos with Isaac Stern. Kept me focused and in the zone all day.
For those who aren't teachers, curriculum mapping is as much fun as trying to tattoo yourself with a soldering iron, and just never figuring out why it hurts more than usual. This is why good background music is essential.
"Pain and pleasure - they're all just neural impulses." - Head Six to Baltar while he was being tortured. Unfortunately, if I had been thinking of Head Six, I never would have gotten my work done, and probably would have been fired, considering the importance the administration attached to this assignment, hence, classics had to suffice, which they did.
Lighter music that I have listened to recently would include: Annie Lennox, Jerry Lee Lewis, M.I.A., and Pete Seeger.

Cynic, the most progressive (sort of) metal band of all time, have a new album out some fifteen years after their last one. 'Focus' was absolutely unfuckwittable and this sounds like a more melodic version of that.
