Although it's been years since I've played PBeMs (Play-by-eMail), I used to frequent Bravo Fleet (https://www.bravofleet.com/).

The character I had was basically a disembodied brain-in-a-jar that communicated through a liquid computer and a brainwave translator. As much as I enjoyed the concept, recruiters didn't...

I also did a few RPGs message-board-wise, but only very sparingly. Two that were popular on StarTrekFans.net were:
Roddenberry Road: basically, it was STF message board as a neighborhood. I owned the haunted house in the cul-de-sac...
A RPG that dealt with the world's population disappearing whilst the STF membership still remained. A pretty silly concept, imo.
