Anybody watching Eureka? I recorded the first episode of Season 2 last night and watched it today. It was a long wait, but I'm happy it's back...I think it will help tide me over until BSG finally comes back.

Sadly, this episode didn't have much screentime for Jordan Hinson, who I love dearly and want to see more often...almost as much as Nicki Clyne :D

I missed it and missed the recording. Do'h.

Although I didn't get to see all of it either, it was pretty good.

I won't go into specifics, since there's people here who haven't seen it yet.

Shh shh shhh lol. Only seen season one in the UK when it was broadcast on scifi. Now showing on Sky One though which is good in that it will get more fans, but bad in that Sky probably paid for Season 2 and thus wont air it until after S1 has ended.

Yeah, I'm watching it, but I'm not a huge fan.

It's not really bad, but nothing special either. Enough to kill 42 minutes with :)

I find the show interesting enough to watch. It's also very well cast... it just needs better stories, I think, something to push the envelope, maybe, and not in "The Shield" or "Battlestar Galactica" kind of way.

It's certainly not on the level of BSG or anything (well, nothing is really QUITE on the same level in my opinion), but yeah, it's sort of a "second-tier" show. But it does very well for that, and I'd love to see the writes cook up some really good storylines and advance the things that have been going on the whole time (like the pshrink-as-a-mole, and the artifact), rather than the silly "Ohnoes, something has gone wrong in genius-land! Let's fix it in a slapstick fashion and have a happy handshaking at the end of the episode with no further consequence!" "Dr. Nobel" was not exactly the show's proudest moment.

It looks like next weeks episode is a retread of an early Stargate: Atlantis episode, which is a disappointment given the promising season premier.

Lucky for me, I've only ever seen one episode of Stargate Atlantis. Also lucky for me, that means this episode will still be a surprise. Unlucky, it also means that it will probably suck.

Oh well. At least Stargate SG1 is being eliminated!

Well, SG-1 had a good run, all things considered. Even if it ran for 2 or 3 seasons longer than it should have.

Personally, I think it ran 10 seasons too long. Yeah yeah, I know every SciFi fan thinks it's the greatest show ever, but I just never liked it. Maybe if I watched it from the very beginning I'd get into it, but as of now I think it's tiresome.

I DO love the movie, however. Everybody else seems to think that the movie sucked and the TV show is great. Odd, that.

I happened to like both, myself.

Well I thouroughly(sp?) enjoyed watching season 1, but unfortunately unless Virgin Media pull their fingers out I won't be seeing season 2:mad:.

The movie -- extended version -- is the best.

WE do get SCI-Fi, and I am currently rewatching series 1 on there. hopefully they will get season 2 aswell.

Maybe BBC will pick it up as they have with heroes, that would be great.:D

I dont think its the kind of show for BBC2 to be honest and theres no way Sky would let it happen, they are already letting another channel air it.

The new season definitely seems more suited to being documented via a wiki. The first season featured episodes that were generally stand-alone, whereas this season seems to have more threads actively running though the shows (necessitating a "previously on Eureka" to catch people up). Also there seem to be more references to previous episodes/characters/concepts, which makes having a wiki handier.

I was wary about the need for a Eureka wiki before, but I think I can see a place for it now (if we're not too far behind the curve...)

The last episode was great :) One of the best yet.

For a change, the technical gimmick of the week only catalyzed the plot, but didn't dominate it. It's really a very human story, carried mostly by the characters. Not just with Fargo, but also Sheriff Carter's past.
Pretty much what I look for a in series most of the time.

Has anybody noticed that Eureka tends to be off by about 5 minutes? It plays hell with my DVR because it records stuff exactly on the schedule it's supposed to be played on, so when Eureka is off, I get 5 minutes of Flash Gordon and 55 minutes of Eureka...major pain in the ass.

That's your box. Tell the company to reset it.

JDS

Can't be the box, it records everything else on time. Besides, it resets the time every time it connects to the server for programming info.

I got hit hard by that on "All That Glitters". I think Scifi got off. I already had Tivo taping an extra 2 minutes on the end because of earlier problems like that, but it wasn't enough.

It was better during the Tues marathon.

Umm.. my box crapped out on me. lol. Was football or baseball going on at the time the episode originally aired?

I know it's not the same as watching it on the old TeeVee, but you can catch all the episodes on SciFi Pulse.

JDS

I can't stand watching stuff on SciFi's website. If I miss an entire episode, I'll just go buy it on Amazon and watch it high-res from my hard drive, but streaming it low-res from the website just sucks, and $2 is a little much for just five minutes of a show.
