Just curious, but has anyone ever read any of the Battlestar Galactica comics from Dynamite? If so, what are your thoughts?

I took a look at some of the regular comics with the Returner storyline. But the art is just incredibly bad. Often it's hard to figure out who is meant to be who. Besides, the show is relatively tightly written and not not really suitable to shoehorn major storylines into like that.

However, the "Zarek" miniseries and "Origins" are far better. Both in drawing and writing.

I just read BSG: Pegasus but to my opinion 24 pages long story is a crap. It should be like at least 100 pages in one volume. I will never understand why American comic books are so short. When it's getting interesting it finishes and it cannot develop the way it could.

I tried very hard to enjoy the Re-imagined comics (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_0), but as Serenity said, the bad art got in the way. Sometimes poor storylines and sourcing (such as mentioning the notion of the Resurrection Ship (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Resurrection_Ship) long before Galactica would meet Pegasus and learn about it) threw me off.

In contrast, the Original Series comics by Dynamite, Classic Battlestar Galactica 1 (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Classic_Battlestar_Galactica_1) and Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica:_Cylon_Apocalypse_1), were extremely good in art, extremely good in series jargon and sourcing (so good, in fact, I suspect they used Battlestar Wiki as a source) and nailed the series characters without making them too hard or too campy. I would strongly recommend both of these series to anyone.

I've read "Cylon Apocalypse" and found it to be very good as well. On the other hand, I've heard mixed reactions to the other regular run of Classic BSG books.

As for the Re-imagined stuff, the only comics I care for are "Zarek" and "Origins". "Season Zero" is passable, but I'm turned off by the need for Brandon Jerwa to fall back on the Cylons. I could say the same with "Pegasus", which was toilet paper.

I have all the comics so far.

I must admit that it has been a challenge to get past the poor art in most cases, but I must say the stories aren't bad. I just picked up "Origins" the other day, and I am hoping it is a good story.

I thought the storyline with "Zack" in it was original and well thought about, but it was weak in parts of the storyline.

All in all, I was pretty hungry for new BSG stuff, so I bought them.
