View Full Version : Is Cain last of the Final Five?

Let's start some discussion on this. Despite it being something that should be taken with several buckets of salt, what do people think about the recent theory put out there by SyFy Portal?

Here's the link: http://www.syfyportal.com/news423872.html

It's possible. That would certainly make things wierder, but that's nothing compared to Crossroads, Part II. And certain events that are going to happen in season 4.

Well, I dunno... It'd seem pretty odd to me to bring her back as a Cylon, particularly since I think the last Cylon should be a massive "OMGWTF" reaction, like the 4 revealed in Crossroads. For me, her coming back as a Cylon would just be a letdown.

Personally, I don't care for Cain being a member of the Final Five; it would be a serious letdown, and typical sci-fi copout. (Oh, look, she was never human after all... after all, no human could have done the things she did in the first place! So it makes sense that she's one of them eeeeviiil Cylons.)

It appears to me, from what I've been reading here and there, that the Final Five are going to be more on the human side of things and are against the Significant Seven, who were the ones truly responsible for the holocaust. In any event, my belief is that it's going to be a female character who is going to be outed as the last Cylon. My vote is Roslin.

I like Cain, I think she is a very clever character and in Razor she will play a very important role in what happens for Season 4. I don't however think she is the final Cylon and I'm crossing my fingers that she's not.

I don't see this happening also. The last 4 were a shock... let alone if it's Cain as the 5th.

I don't really think Cain would be a Cylon, it has to be somebody SPECIAL. She was important, yes, but not really special in any way.

I gotta say, this whole Final Five thing was pretty disappointing to me...Tory and Anders are one thing, but I'm not cool with Tigh and Tyrol being Cylons...aside from the fact that I think they made some of the BEST humans, it also brings up some problems with Tigh...I mean, either you have to say that humanoid Cylons were around back during the first War, or Tigh wasn't part of it, and I think Tigh should have FOR REAL been in the first War. At very least, they've been around a LONG time since Adama has known him personally for so long.

I wouldn't like it if Cain was a cylon because we already have a cylon-hating cylon (Tigh) and she hasn't been a in alot of episodes so isn't that important. And on top of it all she's DEAD so even if she is whats the matter? NO BIGGIE.

not Cain. It's probably either Baltar or Starbuck. RDM said it won't be Adama or Roslin...

Wait, I thought we already established that Baltar wasn't a Cylon.

Starbuck maybe. The whole prophecy thing with the painting the pictures and all that was pretty weird, maybe it's a sign of being a Super Secret Cylon.

I'm still liking the idea that Kara is Tighs daughter and thus a half cylon lol.

Kara would be a logical one since her coming could tie in the spiritual nature between humans and Cylons. It would help make her resurrection easier to digest, too.

My only belief is that the final Cylon is a person that was well regarded in some circle and was missed on their passing. That could leave:

Cain (she's a mean one and not a likely returner)
Billy Keikeya (the atheist)
Ellen Tigh (would make Col. Tigh whole again)
Louanne Katraine (unlikely since radiation shouldn't be a general problem for a typical humanoid Cylon)

I wouldn't count Kat out based on the radiation. Sharon was suffering from radiation too. Kat took a double dose of radiation before she kicked it.

That said, I don't see Kat as the last cylon. She isn't a very popular character (or at least that's the impression I've gotten), and I don't think her return would have much affect on most people (in or out of the universe).

Remember Leoben in the miniseries?

Billy Keikeya (the atheist)Oh man I'd LOVE to have Billy back again. I really miss having him around, Billy's death totally screwed things up. I thought the Billy/Dualla relationship was great, whereas the Lee/Dualla thing never seemed right to me (it seemed purely like a plot device rather than natural character developement), plus Tory is such a f*cking boring character compared to Billy. Plus, something about the aide to a politically unimportant official suddenly becoming the right hand of the President was just cool...I mean yeah yeah, the whole teacher-becomes-President thing, whatever, but at least Laura had campaigned with Adar and worked closely with him for years...Billy's leap was, as I see it, even more fundamental, and that made it more interesting to me.

Tory has been so underused that I have a hard time even considering her boring. She's just never been developed. But I see potential there, the actress never struck me as bad, so now that they're forced to use her a lot more, I think it'll turn out fine.

Back to the point: Billy. I love Billy. He was one of my favorite characters, and I was really upset when he died. Personally, if you're going to resurrect any character, I'd like it to be Billy. He was definitely high profile enough; Season One, he was in that top tier of the secondary cast (those not in the main credits). I also like the idea that Roslin is so important that things were manipulated so that another Cylon would become her right hand (wo)man.

I love Ellen too, but bringing back either Ellen or Billy requires an explanation as to how two of the final five were so close. It seems a much easier sell to say that the powers that be wanted a Cylon by Roslin's side at all times than that two of the final five managed to meet and marry. Plus, I think you lose more from bringing Ellen back; unlike Billy, her death meant something. Frak, it meant a lot. I don't want that taken away.

If we're resurrecting characters to be Number One, then let it be Billy.

I agree, 100%

WTF happened to my post? I replied to this thread and now my post is gone!

Anyway, I was saying that I agree, there's nothing inherently wrong with the Tory character, it's just that they haven't developed ANYTHING interesting for her, so every time she appears on screen, it's no better than having an extra show up (except that there's some dialogue, which you might be able to convince an extra to deliver anyway). Now that Tory is a Cylon, it's a little late to start developing interesting stuff for her, and anything that they developed will have to be done in the light of her being a Cylon, whereas all of Tigh's backstory is now changed by the revelation (for better or for worse).

That depends on your personal settings. There is a standard for how many posts are displayed per page, but you can also increase that.

Uh. No, that's a different post. If you read it, I'm making an entirely different point in that post. Alpha responded to it and then I responded to Alpha's post, but THAT disappeared.

More on topic...I think that Razor is going to be great for satisfying our desire to see more of Cain (or at least mine) without screwing up the storyline by bringing her back from the dead. I actually wish the space between Season 3 and Season 4 had been used to intermittently show a lot of episodes that just filled in backstory...kind of seems like a wasted opportunity now that I think of it, but of course the funding for intermittent BSG episodes just wouldn't be there.
