When hiring someone, it's usually SOP to do something called a "background check", which is a process where a company goes through and hits databases looking for information on a prospective employee.

Well, Wikimedia's done it again... or rather, they haven't, since their Chief Operating Officer is a convicted felon -- in three states!

Wow. They're having a bad PR month.

Good thing Frak Media doesn't do background checks...

;)

Bad month? How about year!

Haha! If I could, I would probably run background checks on people, just to make sure things are on the up and up. Hell, I'd run on myself just to see if I'm trustworthy. LOL

That being said, apparently they just hire people off the street at Wikia and Wikimedia. Sad, but true.

I'd offer to let you google me at least, but holy crap... my name is way too common for that to be worthwhile. Actually my first, middle, last is out on the net only once... in some BSG fan fiction (that I didn't write). Ha!

I can run a NCIC check on all of us if we really needed it :D

LOL

Yeah, I think I'm a convicted felon... with a lot of melons I bought using the Google ad money. :P

A few offenses shouldn't prevent being hired, depending on their severity

But she racked up an impressive record O_o
Check fraud, theft, petty larceny, killing someone with her car, shooting her boyfriend. Insane to hire someone like that

Oh, I agree. A few offenses shouldn't prevent a hiring, but when you're dealing with check fraud and all that, well, it is insane.

Either way, it's a good idea to know your employees' capabilities. For example, Jimbo determines that somebody needs to be killed... he could have kept the job in-house instead of having to outsource.

I wonder if the suspected murders would have had any bearing on her hiring or not. I'm certain that the check fraud would (which is messed up, in a way).
