Why can't they find a cameraman who can hold the bloody thing still??

It gives me a ruddy headache the way the image bobs up and down constantly, zooms in randomly, zooms back out. Why is it fashionable to make out you've hired the guy who was flipping burgers in the cafe to work the camera?

Zoom in, zoom out, bounce up and down. Doesn't matter if it's on the characters or in the space shots, it's F**KING ANNOYING!!!!

I hope they sort it out in season 4.

*sigh* more hyperbole

You complain about this now? After over 4 years? By now you should either have gotten used to it or stopped watching. If they didn't change it by now, it won't be.

I don't even notice it anymore, unless I consciously pay attention to it.

I completely disagree!
IMO, its a very unique point of view
when space debris hits the camera and sends it spinning...fantastic!

but thats just me:p

It's the difference between "surveillance" and "experience". To do the "Star Trek" long-shot, closeup shot, wideshot, rinse-repeat method is more "surveillance". It is distant, cold, and not-engaging.

Battlestar Galactica allows us to "experience" the show with its camera motions. Granted, sometimes it can be just a tad too shaky, but for anyone whose ever seen documentaries, camera angles aren't perfect either. It's called verisimilitude, which is why I rather enjoy the series, rather than the sterile Berman-Braggart-era Star Trek or the Stargate series.

I must say that at the very beginning it played on my nerves but right now I don't mind. I like when the camera moves during some fast action, I still don't like this zooming in and out but can live with that ;)

That's because I only just watched the entire three seasons over the last three months. I'm living in the sandpit and got the lot of them on DVD, then caught up and finished the last three yesterday. So yeah, it still irritates the hell outa me!

Somebody do something...

PS: I have many more complaints but am rationing them out.

Remember that, stylistically, Galactica is vaguely supposed to be a documentary.

Yeah it's part of this whole philosophy of naturalistic science fiction. Here read Ron Moore's essay:

I have to admit, I sometimes find it a little bothersome. However, ultimately I think it contributes well to the realism of the show.

Dude how can you have so many gripes but still like the show?

Many shows adopt the "jerky-cam" style.

There's "The Office", "The Thick of It", "Firefly", and probably some other shows.

That doesn't mean it's a good thing, many more shows don't do it!!

Good question. I guess it's my youthful enthusiam for the original series when it first came out which gets me through...??

They do the jerky cam thing to give it a more realistic feel ala documentaries & news camera's. They toned it down incredibly after the mini series.

Honestly...I miss it. I love that style, and I don't find it difficult to watch at all.

Well I can't stand it.

Having registered my disgust, I shall now sit back and wait for the protestations and personal messages by the producers and directors.

I don't think they actually care enough to bother.
