I was sooooooooo happy that they found a way to use these spiffy new digital CGI models of the old-style Raiders into the show itself, not just the flashbacks. That really, really made Razor great.

I must say, seeing the re-imagined old Centurions in action really impressed me...they fit into this world quite nicely. They moved just right so that you can clearly see that them as the ancestors to the new Centurions, but they retain JUST enough clunkiness to stir up the nostalgia.

But...the voice. They used The Cylon Voice. They didn't have to...it hadn't been referenced up until now in the Re-Imagined series...but they did it. BY YOUR COMMAND. :tos-cylon:

I'M HAPPY! :D

No, it was beyond awful. By far the silliest moment in the entire series.

The updated original Centurions are fine and a nice homage by themselves. Even the Raiders are decent, but having them piloted by three Centurions already doesn't make much sense. They should have updated that too.

Then having them actually talk to each other in that silly voice was 200% pure cheese. And completely unnecessary. It was just a tacked on moment without any thought, because someone thought it would be cool. Bad decision.

Took me completely out of the story, because I needed some time to groan and roll my eyes.

Took me completely out of the story, because I needed some time to groan and roll my eyes.Actually, in comparison to the whole Quiznos "quiz answer" spots aired immediately after the frakkin' acts, this was benign... Although I agree that it jars from the narrative.

Then having them actually talk to each other in that silly voice was 200% pure cheese. And completely unnecessary. It was just a tacked on moment without any thought, because someone thought it would be cool. Bad decision.Having them talk together in the Silly Machine Voice was not the best narrative decision. And yes, I needed to pause for a moment to laugh. But since it was the last thing before a commercial break, I got to enjoy and then move on without losing the story any more than I would have if they hadn't done that, since I had to start fast-forwarding at that moment anyway.

That wasn't the part that I really loved, though...my point is that we actually got to see the old-style raiders flying around and the Centurions clanking and shooting people in the "now" time period, and they were an important part of Razor, instead of just being confined to the flashbacks. THAT was the important part. It created a real continuity between the backstory and the modern setting that we've gotten used to.

Ron addressed teh old style raiders & the decision to put them in in his q&a which was held over at fans4writers.com The full thread is Here (http://www.fans4writers.com/forum/index.php?topic=514.0) What he says specifically about including the old centurions & raiders in particular, the "by your command" line.

The "by your command" line, and the fact that the cockpit Cylons talk at all, was actually something that our Visual Effects artists suggested. I was pitched the idea during a VFX meeting by Gary Hutzel, our Emmy-awarding winning VFX guru and I decided to go for it.

He also answers a lot about continuity & reasoning behind some of the major problems people have with certain aspects of the story.

One of the Sharons (I think anyway) said the "by your command" line at at the end of the miniseries when the cylons rescue the Doral from Ragnaar, so at least this wasn't the first time......

I thought the old school, Cylons and Raiders were pretty cool, it gives the old series and new series a nice tie in.

As for the movie itself....ehhh, it wasn't bad, it just didn't cover much new ground, I mean we know the Cylons have human models, and we knew that the Pegasis barely escaped, and that Cain ordered civilians ships left to die, and that she killed her first officer.

It was okay, a nice filler until March...and don't get me started on March.
