Cast/Crew:
Directed by Danny Boyle
Written by Alex Garland
Starring Rose Byrne, Cillian Murphy, Michelle Yeoh, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chris Evans, Cliff Curtis, Troy Garity, Benedict Wong

Synopsis:
Fifty years into the future, the sun is failing, causing the Earth to freeze. A spacecraft, the Icarus II with a crew of eight men and women is launched as a last hope,[2] carrying a stellar bomb with the mass of Manhattan in order to re-ignite the sun. Seven years prior, a similar ship, the Icarus had been launched for the same mission, but contact was lost.[3] When the crew of eight move toward the sun and out of radio contact with Earth, they discover the distress beacon of the ship that had been missing for seven years. After an informed decision (precided over by Capa (Cillian Murphy), the physicist who controls the bomb), the crew decides that it is best to rendezvous with the stricken vessel to attempt repairs in order to give themselves another bomb, and another chance at succeeding in their mission, should their bomb not have the desired effect.

Anyone else seen this film yet? I saw it last night and the visuals and music worked so great together it was amazing. There's a few flaws in the film regarding some plot holes (don't really want to give anything away) but its such a visually impressive film you have to see it. I think ill go to the cinema and see it again because its something that just needs to be seen on a big screen. I don't think you'd be as immersed in the experience on a TV screen. If you liked Event Horizon, Alien, Solaris and 2001 then I think you'll love this film.

Seems interesting, though.

I'll go just to see Michelle Yeoh. She's on my top ten list of Sexy Women Who Kick Ass, along with Carrie-Anne Moss and Kate Beckinsale. :)

Oh, and Rose Byrne. Another pretty face that was almost wasted in Star Wars:Attack of the Clones.

I don't remember her being in Star Wars EpII but then all three of the new ones I hated and didn't really pay much attention to them.

Shes gonna be in 28 Weeks Later next month (sequel to another Danny Boyle film which starred Cillian Murphy) which I really wanna see.

I was bidding on some of the props from the film this week and was winning several of them, until about 5 seconds before it ended. Damn eBay snipers :( Its not fair, cheating.

Hi all... new to these forums.

Just wondering how many of you have watched Danny Boyle's Sunshine? For me, this has been the best movie of the year so far. I loved the effects, the plot was good and the suspense was excellent. Kinda' reminded me of a cross between Event Horizon and Red Planet.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on it...

Yeah, I would have slept watching Red Planet too. :P

I intend to see this movie probably Saturday or Sunday, along with the Simpsons movie. (Yeah, a bit of a movie binge thing going on here, I guess.)

Ooooh...sounds good. So has it been released in the theaters yet and I missed it, or is it coming out soon?

Its not been out in the US yet. The rest of the world got it months ago. For some strange reason it kept getting pushed back in the release schedules.

I just saw this movie and...WHOA. CRAAAAAAZY.

I had a LOT of fun watching the movie, but DAMN was that strange.

Although I'm not digging the whole zombie thing, I think the movie would have been better without it.

I did enjoy all of the homages to earlier space/scifi classics though.

BTW, 200th post! WHEEEEE! \o/

I loved Red Planet. Mostly because Carrie-Anne Moss is in it, a little underdressed at one time, in a spacecraft that often got cold. Joy...

The blitzkrieg of good movies (as well as my business travel) is making it hard to see things, but I hope to add this one.
