Perhaps the entire conclusion to the Starbuck storyline is a homage to the Galactica 1980 series, and more specifically, “The Return of Starbuck” (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/The_Return_of_Starbuck). I would suggest the following:
- This was the final episode in the series.
- In the episode, Dr. Zee relates to Adama his dream of a great warrior whose name was Starbuck.
- Starbuck's use of the word frack during the battle scene is the first and only instance that the word is used in a Galactica 1980 episode. The milder Galactican vulgarism felgercarb (also from the Original Series) is used sparingly in 1980 episodes. (Felgercarb Toothpaste)
- Had the series been permitted to live on, an episode called "The Wheel of Fire" would reveal that Starbuck was rescued by the Beings of Light to become one of their rank.
Perhaps Starbuck is likely a “Being of Light”.

1. Welcome to the forum.

2. Have a look at the Nugget Intros (http://www.battlestarforum.com/showthread.php?t=1577%29) if you'd like to tell us more about yourself.

3. I think the main question being asked right now is whether the Head Characters are Beings of Light, in general. RDM has paralleled his was through the series at points, so it's possible (but who knows?).

Anyone else got a better idea?

In TOS Starbuck was a Foundling. Maybe Kara is too? We don't 'actually' know if her mother gave birth to her

What's a foundling? Is it anything like a youngling?

The Head Characters are the ghosts of the Lords of Kobol.

The Head Characters are the ghosts of the Lords of Kobol.

Why ghosts - why not the Lords of Kobol proper? As there has been little or no indication as to what the LOK really are - other than that one managed to kill themself - they could easily have the ability to get inside someones head.

someone else could do this better than me.

A Foundling is a 'child of the forest'. In ancient myths they would be found by humans and grow up amongst mortals. Then they become gods.... or something

can anyone else expand on this lol

The Head Characters are the ghosts of the Lords of Kobol.

I don't think they are dead either

the beings of light thing is pretty unpopular on this thread cuz frankly as logical as it might be itz a bit of a prop and boring. BUT, " They are calling me," from SB's explosion disappearance scene lends some weight to her being something else and at some level knowing what "they" are, as well as, cuz of resurrecting, being one of em. this still fits into RDM's pledge that explanations of stuff would be based in fact not fantasy. Whatever that means in sci fi? Some folks that have read some of my other posts have an inkling of what i think, those that haven't;)
So far
So good !

So far so odd, too. I recall RDM saying the resolution would to some extent please both atheists and theists.
