Ok, so on the way out, the 13th tribe builds a "Temple of Hopes" to pray for a path to a new home. Ellen says that's 3,000 years ago, other sources say 4,000 years ago, but either way it's long ago.

Next, somehow a legend develops of a "Temple dedicated to the five priests of the one whose name cannot be (spoken)." The sacred scrolls talk of it. Tyrol has fake memories of studying it as a child. It's a Kobolian legend, it dates back before the tribes left Kobol, before the war on Earth and the birth of the final five.

So now 13th colony Earth is nuked and the F5 head out in their sublight ship. Many hundreds of years later, they stop at the Temple of Hopes. Ellen doesn't notice it's been modified in any way (but then she never saw its original form, just knew the stories of it from their history, perhaps saw pictures.)

She says she didn't modify it.

Then, later, the F5 arrive and create the 8 Cylons. Now they are important enough to warrant putting their faces in this temple.

Powerful forces drive the colonial fleet and Cylon fleet to the temple on nova day. The hybrid says the secrets of the temple are only to be revealed to the chosen one and it seems to be Baltar. But 3 sees it instead. The star explodes. Ellen says none of this is her doing, must be the one true god.

So how to explain all this? Does the OTG create the legend of 5 priests who never existed? Are the 5 priests 5 other beings? They are not the final five, who didn't even pick up monotheism until they got to Caprica.

In fact, is the Temple of Five something else entirely? Does Tyrol just mistake the Temple of Hopes for the mythical Temple of Five?

This is not making sense.

No, it's not making sense. The only possible explanation I can see...

3000 or 4000 (it's just another millennium, who's counting, or noticing? LOL) years ago, the Beings of Light/Head characters anointed five members of the paradoxically polytheist Thirteenth Tribe and made them Priests of the Temple of Hope.

1000 years later, the Beings of Light/Head characters communicated with five descendants of the Thirteenth Tribe and helped them survive the nuclear holocaust on Earth.

No one but the "One True God" has control over what is seen by the Guy Standing in the Mandala. The first time the Temple was used the "One True God" chose to reveal the location of "Earth" to the Thirteenth Tribe. When D'Anna visited he decided, "I will show her the faces of the 'Final Five', eventually forcing the 'Final Five' to out themselves, notice a beacon to 'Earth' and lead the 'new' Thirteenth Tribe to a total shithole.". The "One True God" should learn to be more direct, stop obsessing over pentagons and the number 5, and realize that RDM makes this up as he goes.

The temple is, colonial legend says, the location of the Eye of Jupiter. Which, when it explodes, points to a Nebula 13,000 light years away -- nowhere even remotely near their little collection of sublight-flyable planets.

D'Anna is convinced she'll see the five there. And she's seen them in the space between life and death several times.

And others see them in the Kobol opera house. A place that the final five have never seen. At best, if it is thousands of years old, they have seen some photos. The scene in the Temple shows them in the opera house too.

Why all the games. If the One True God wants to show D'Anna the five, why not just a clearer view during download? Why this whole star nova, fleets meet, poison the food of the RTF to make them detour back stuff?
