VIP Membership Proposal

In bouncing the idea off of the chiefs (administrators) at Battlestar Wiki, I would like to get feedback on the idea I've had regarding paid memberships.

Everything is pretty much outlined in the two links below, as well as the reasons for it. I'd like everyone's thoughts on this as well.

With anything remotely similar to our current membership numbers, this obviously won't get BSW/BSF to self-sufficiency, but it's a step in the right direction. I say go for it.

Yeah, coupled with the ads, this should get us there.

Ultimately, if we get 30 sign ups a month, that would be sweet. 15 per month would be the initial goal, particularly in conjunction with the ads and the commissions.

Plus to spur membership numbers, we may do giveaways, raffles, and small money prizes. $10 Amazon GC, soundtrack, stuff like that. Depends on what money we have available.

As a bit of a wiki lurker, I still think it's a great idea and would probably join it. However, is there going to be a reason to sign up for more than 12 months (given the show only has 1 season left)? It sounds like a good short-term revenue stream, but once the show is finished it'll probably die in the... uh... ear.

It's getting dragged out so far, Season 4 likely won't be finished until well into 2009.

Also, shouldn't this thread be in CIC?
