When I'm not obsessed with Battlestar and The Matrix, I'm into Heroes.

Their crew are Battlestar fans. There was a very visible extra with a Battlestar TV shirt in the "Save the cheerleader" episode. Damn fine writing there.

Wikipedia, to its credit, has pretty extensive articles on the show, episodes and characters at this link (http://en.wikipedia.org/Heroes (TV show)) (although their episode summaries wish they were written by a 3rd grader, they are so verbose).

I watched the first few episodes cus I used to have a little thing for one of the actresses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Larter) lol. Whoever the cheerleader girl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claire_Bennet) is, is pretty cute too but I missed a load of episodes and don't really have the time to catch up on it now.

Yeah, that's actress Hayden Panettiere. I'm not allowed to think such things about her; she's so young she could be my daughter!

Honestly, I had a fairly low opinion of Heroes for a while. Back when Galactica was on Fridays, my friends and I would gather to watch Dr. Who first. Usually, we'd get to the TV a little early, and catch the end of the Heroes rerun. From what little I saw, it seemed really silly. I remember very distinctly, seeing the end of the episode where Future Hiro contacts Peter (sorry, the arc is so tight, I really can't remember specific episode titles, they all meld together). Everything stops, Future Hiro steps out from the shadows, and proclaims, "I'm from the future." We all had a good laugh.

After that, I heard a lot of great things from people. Several of my friends swore by it. So this summer, I went onto NBC's website, which very conveniently offered all of the episodes to watch for free (please do this for more shows, networks), and starting watching. At first I was mildly impressed, but with each passing episode, I fell more in love with it. Things I had seen and thought were silly without context were suddenly amazing.

I was really pleased with Heroes. I have to say, it's probably the tightest single season arc I've ever seen. It just had this pacing and focus I'd never seen before. There weren't any weird stand alone episodes, or parts where you felt they had run out of steam on a certain plot thread and were backpeddling back on course (which I found while watching 24). It was really quite a great show. I'm an especially big fan of Peter and Sylar, they're such great characters with such nice counterpointing in their powers.

My only issue with the season was the finale, which didn't quite have the high-octane conclusion I was hoping for. That fight between Sylar and Peter was kind of let down, and there were just weird moments like Nikki's momentary involvement or Hiro flying in for a second. Also, I still don't see how Nathan's plan of flying Peter away was superior to Peter being shot. A nuclear explosion still happened! That's bad. If Peter had been shot, no explosion. That's good.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next season. It'll take up Veronica Mars' mantle as the other show on TV besides BSG I care about.

Like many good shows out today, Heroes is a serialized show. Miss an episode and you miss out on juicy bits.

I agree with BB...the ending could have been better given all the buildup to the bomb. These are heroes with superpowers...let's stop conserving the SFX budget for cast parties and whip out some stuff. It's not like NBC was going to cancel them or anything!

Yeah, Mercifull, I could be your father...!</vaderspeak>

Your next line should have something like "Nooo...!"

Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, the centrai villain in Heroes, has a new additional job: as a younger Spock in the next Star Trek feature film, directed by Lost's J.J. Abrams.

Nimoy is scheduled to appear as the elder Spock, apparently to reminiscence about the old days.

No word on who's playing the younger Kirk. Word has it that William Shatner may also appear, but this isn't confirmed in news I've read as yet.

More news here. (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20049407,00.html)

Let's not even talk about that.

The idea of having somebody else play Kirk is just to heretical. Ugh. Why can't they just have a DIFFERENT CHARACTER?

I have to agree with the ending of Season 1's Heroes a bit of a let down considering how they kept building it up and it seemed like it lost a bit of it's steam. It's a great show though and if you miss one you miss out on a lot luckily NBC was smart enough to allow the fans to watch the episodes for free on their website.

Does anyone know when the 2nd season start?
