Damn, you should really read the story. I need to discuss (bitch about) the movie with somebody who's read the story.

We will give UK 1408 in exchange for Blake's 7. :tos-cylon:

I think that could cause an international incident.

You are not having Blake's 7 until you give us the peoper versions of the DVDs for Battlestar Galactica. Ones that include the commentaries, bonus scenes, deleted scenes, documentary features and the WEBISODES.

Oh why don't you just stop whining and buy Region 1 DVD players? It's not like they cost anything anymore.

I'd suggest reading the short story after you see the movie.

Have you read the story yet?
If you haven't read the story, then you'll just get this amorphous idea that the movie wasn't any good, rather than understanding exactly how good the story really is, and how badly they mangled it.
I knew they'd ruined it as soon as he steps in and says "This is it?". By then, things should ALREADY be getting scary.
Hell, I knew something was terribly wrong when they cut the scene with Olin down so far.
Such a waste...

Id rather not waste my time reading the short story. I was incredibly disappointed by the film. Not because of the story but because of the way it was made. The funny bits weren't funny and the scary bits weren't scary. I have no desire to read more about it.

And that's what makes me really sad. The story is genuinely excellent, and now nobody wants to read it because that movie soured them all on it :(

Oddly both are on my to do list.
I have the book, and was reading it, but had yet to get to the 1408 story, sometimes I have to be in the mood to read King, esspecially these short stories.
As for the flick....I'm sorta cheaping out and waiting til Walmart has it marked down.
Proirities a lot of things I want came out recently.

Don't watch the movie until you've read the story. Otherwise you might get the wrong idea and not want to read it.

I have seen the movie, but not read the story. I know it's a short story by Stephen King, what's the title? I think I will need to read and compare :)

I am open to all interpretations of this story though :)

is this that cack movie with Samuel L Jackson (RETIRE) and John Cusack (paying the mortgage).
I like Cusack but he does let himself down a bit doesn't he?

It's not one of Stephen King's better stories, but Cusack has a lot of win in the bank.
