Pop on over to the LA Times website:

There we have a trailer for Caprica. In short, it appears as though a scientist creates a copy of someone's (Adama's?) deceased daughter. The trailer doesn't use the word Cylon, or even say that the copy is a machine - so the copy could just be a clone. Nonetheless, it is intriguing to consider that this could be the first human-form cylon - especially since it seems that this copy has all sorts of questions about what it means to be alive (just like a cylon).
A few problems with this notion:
1. If the Adamas had Cylons in the family, then you'd think that Bill Adama would have known about it.
Sub-idea: perhaps he did. Perhaps that's how he was able to figure out Leoben in the mini-series so quickly. Additional possibility: this is why he's so pissed about Tigh being a cylon: it remind him of this family member (sister?). In other words, Bill Adama has secrets?
2. The idea of human-form cylons comes as a complete shock to the Colonials in BSG. This implies that the daughter is not a cylon, or at least that it was kept a secret.
3. It is strongly implied in the Razor flashbacks that the ship that young Adama attempted to rescue the humans from was involved in early research for human-form cylons. Why would this be needed if one already existed?
4. The origin of human-form cylons is currently shrouded in mystery. Even the cylons themselves don't seem to know where they come from. I'm kinda hoping that their origins are bigger than simply being with the Adama/Graystone family.
Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if the Graystone daughter comes back in humanoid or robotic form. Hoping it's the latter :p

Wow, the Adamas with Cylons in the closet! Worse than skeletons!
Seriously, whatever form the daughters were brought back as, it would make perfect sense for the mechanical Cylons to steal the idea when they rebelled. They probably had access to the Greystone computer systems and took whatever they wanted when they decided to split. I love that one photograph of the girl wearing the funky headset! It makes her look a little like that character from Star Trek: Next Generation.

Now, that would be quite intriguing if Tamara Adama was the 1st human-cylon, it would make an excellent twist too. I'd also like to hear more about the scene where Joseph corrects (?) someone over his surname being Adama and not Adams. Was he fessing up to hiding his surname?
*oh, and apologies if the surname things already been mentioned, it's too early in the morn to search..

It would be interesting to see if Caprica is broadcast around the same time as BSG 4.5, and if there's any crossover between the 2.

Where'd you hear that? That means the series has been given the green light.

Still has to survive the crucible of the pilot.

Not necessarily. If the Sci Fi channel green-lights the series then the pilot will be shown as the first two episodes after BSG has ended. If not then we'll get the pilot sometime in the autumn, before 4.5 is broadcast.
That's the last I heard anyway. Has there been an update?

I don't think the "skinjobs" we see are humanoid cylons. In fact I'm pretty sure they're just holograms.
Maybe they'll be uploaded into a body with a humanoid appearance a la Terminator O_o.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to air in November.

Yeah that's right; they call them avatars.

I always thought that the cylons never acheived the human form on their own...that they met a being (the "one God") that helped them finish what they started with the hybrid program. This trailer would seem to suggest that they did it on their own?

The avatar version was created by humans... Daniel Graystone to be precise. It's not the same as humanoid Cylons. It may be the same thing as a head character but we're yet to be told.

So the avatar thing...couldnt that be what they did to Starbuck that brought her back to life?

I don't think so. I don't think we know for sure, to be honest. Joe might have a better insight. My guess is that the avatars are more like head characters and aren't physically present, whereas Kara obviously is. No idea really though - I haven't given it much thought.

From what I know, the pilot chronicles events that lead up to the creation of the first Cylon. Meaning, the Greystone daughter will still be alive for most of it. That's what we could be seeing, that and tripped out visions involving smoke machines.

If I remember the storyline of Caprica, as it has been put forward so far, correctly, it revolves around the two families who have each lost a daughter in a terrorist attack. Eric Stolz's character, the head of the Greystone family, designs a humanoid robot to replace his daughter. Joseph Adama seems not to have opted for that ("One family responds with strength"). If Greystone went ahead and created a copy anyway, well, with the Adama family becoming somehow involved, even tenuously, with the early creation of humanoid robots, they should be historical figures in Cylon history. Maybe minor compared to Greystone, but figures nonetheless. How is that for a connection with the current situation of the combined human-Cylon fleet? I wonder if there might be a member of the Greystone family in the fleet who has yet to be revealed. That would make things interesting.

That would make sense, especially so that rdm can gain even further interest in the new series Caprica.
