I know this is a weird idea, and probably doesn't play a huge role in the over all story, but hear me out.

What would you consider to be the ultimate force in the BSG universe? At first glance, i would assume it is the power of invention. That is what led to the original creation of the cylons, and possibly the birth of a whole new generation of humans, or the extinction of the current "humans".

I know it sounds kinda stupid, but hear me out. I think the writing is intended to show love as the most powerful force. I believe love is what fills the gap between "human" and "cylon" Look at how greatly love has affected some of the cylons. It has created a rebellion between the cylons to the point of possible extinction. The love between Helo and Boomer has allowed humanity to accept Boomer as their own. It seems like every cylon who falls in love with a human "evolves" and becomes more than just a cylon, almost human. After all, the only thing more powerful than a killer race of robots trying to wipe out all humanity (invention) is the only thing that has proven effective to change the killer robots will to kill all humans (love)

I think love is what separates human from cylon, and soon all cylons will experience it and evolve, or their model will eventually die out (lose the will to live once they fully learn about love and cant/wont/haven't experience it?), almost like natural selection. It is really hard for me to put my full ideas into words, and even harder to link those ideas to the show (just recently seen the whole series) but i think i am at least getting my point across and some of you can relate and expand upon it.

(PS. I am not one of those soppy guys who think everything is about love, quite the opposite, lol)

It's not stupid. Love is clearly important in the show. Love was considered by the Cylons to be the missing ingredient in their attempts to procreate by natural methods. That was Season One. Towards the end of Season Four we had Elosha telling Roslin that her great failing was that she had no room in her life for love, and now we have the two main characters doing it.

Athena. Not Boomer. They're not interchangeable.

It's a good point and love is clearly intentionally an important part of the show. I'd like to see Athena's love for Hera play a bigger part but I suppose love for your children is pretty much taken for granted.

Love is important, but I think you're forgetting that the ultimate force in the universe is Saul Tigh.

Obviously.

Yes Athena, thank you. Oh, sorry about the PS, ill clean it up a bit next time.

I do have one semi-related question. Is it "knowledge" that the 7 cylons were created after the first cylon war, or just a theory? Honestly, unless i missed something big, i cant see this being possible (some times i do not accept the things seen in Razor like this)

It seems as though the pairing of Athena an Helo back on Caprica was intentional by the Cylons, that they manipulated them into falling in love, and what about Tigh seeing Caprica Six as Ellen? She ends up pregnant. And Caprica's asking of Baltar in the miniseries if he loves her. Was she trying to reproduce with him?

Love does seem to be the catalyst, and may very well play into the finale.

You know, it completely slipped my mind that the cylons tried to get athena and helo to fall in love. Wow, i cant believe i missed that, and i just watched s1 again too.

Please genji2000, as much as I admire their acting abilities, I don't think anybody wants to hear Adama and Roslin described as "doing it.". Maybe "romantically involved" would befit their ages. Some of us have eaten supper only a little before this!

In all sincere good humor, I thank you.;)

Tsk. I meant 'doing love'. Some people's minds.
