Thought it might be interesting to find out who you think will get that last, lingering shot in the last episode before the wide pan and credits...

1) roslin the pres
2) adama the elder
3) baltar the swine
4) six (any variant)
5) starbuck the frak-up
6) hera the child
7) d'anna the miserable
8) your own suggestion?

And if your fingers can keep up the pace, why that choice?

"hera the child"? Is that the best you could come up with?

It would have a nice symmetry if it was a Six, given the opening scene in the Miniseries, but that would imply that a Six (probably Head Six) had more control over events than seems likely.

I would concur.

I also think Starbuck might be the best bet, although she not my favorite character. She's the first one (major, right?) we see of the Galactica crew, jogging through the halls, so there would be nice symmetry there.

On the other hand, Boxey (I can't believe I'm saying this) was 'sposed to be the son of the first person killed in the mini, so he might be appropriate too.

I think the best would be a pull back shot from the Galactica, in whatever her final disposition, would be best, tho. That, I think would be pefect. To close the story of the Galactica, with the very last image of her.

Truth be told, I'd bet the last thing we see is Ron Moore being killed by a Cylon or something, after the credits roll by.

I'm gonna go with 8)...

Galactica.

Watching her sail off into the inky void or going up in the mother of all explosions.

Last face? I'm guessing Adama.

There seem to be a few sensitive souls here, so thought I'd keep it clean...

I reckon it'll be baltar with one of those 'I'm going to have to wing it again' faces of his.

I'm going with a view of Adama, dressed in civilian clothes, sitting on a rocking chair with his glasses on...reading aloud to no one at first, but the shot pans out...revealing a bunch of children infront of him as he reads the history of the exodus from the colonies. He removes his glasses, takes a deep breath, and looks up to the stars. Fade to black...or maybe Galactica (should it survive, which I doubt it will.)

hmm, talk abotu even more wild than usual speculation since we don't even know where we'll be by the time 4.22 rolsl around, but part of me goes with bill as the "face" of the fleet ..

However, if you look at the various seasons' closing shots we have had the cic will bill shot, earth after starbuck's re-appearance, and either the brooklyn bridge, some other earth bridge, or a complete red herring. hence, it may not be a person, or even the galactica herself ...

Yeah, it'd be nice if the final shot was of Helo looking at Athena smiling as she watches Hera play in the dirt.

Welcome back.

Could've gone with "demon child".

Welcome back.

Alternatively, Athena finally surrendering to her murderous thoughts and shooting Adama on the CIC, as those Eight models have been known to do.

And then the final pan over Galactica as she goes down under a horrendous barrage of missiles.

dark much?

And thanks.

My guess would be a shot of Earth which than pans towards a crippled Galactica (maybe missing one of the flight pods or whatnot) slowly and lifelessly drifting towards the Sun.

Either that or one of the characters (Im thinking of Baltar or maybe Roslin), lying on the ground in an open space, clearly dying as he/she observes the happenings around him/her. There is a hint that he/she finally saw the ultimate plan, the pattern that had been leading them all before the screen fades to white as the character in question dies.

I cant see the series ending with the annihalation of the human race... it just seems... dare i say it... TOO dark!

I also think a second "new-caprica", with some shabby tents and dirty crew wouldnt work either.

I can see the fleet heading back out into the stars, with the original series music playing... then a slow pan round to a cyclon raider, its eye opens, a single pan of the eye with the classic "woom-woom" sound, fade to black...

Who knows, i sorta want them to leave it open to a sequal... on the other hand, i REALLY dont! i couldnt survive another Galactica 1980

RDM knows he can't try the "g1980" route for a sequel -- we would hurt him ...

i do like the idea that the end isn't really the end and the journey goes on, but all indications from the prinicpals are that the there will be some closure ...

I could have but am all out of evil jokes about children after re-writing the lyrics for Earth song by Michael Jackson for a friend with a callous mind...

I actually don't think anyone's guessed what the ending is yet to be honest, I'm sure some are right about the final cylon, but I don't think who it is matters, only what the reaction from the characters and the revelations that spew forth with rapid fire on second viewing will be.
I'm often wrong, though.

And rightly so.

Share-me-do, do - even if it's in the "worst lyrics" thread.

Alas, I think this is not the place, it's very crude. If you know of another medium, I'll gladly email/whatever them.

The face of a Centurion.

Earth/a new planet has been colonized, and everyone is happy. Helo and Athena watch Hera play on a beach, and she starts digging something up. The two parents come over to help her pull the thing out, and their faces turn to shock as they get the head out of the sand. The camera moves to the thing they have discovered - a rusty Centurion, and it's eye begins to shift again - end credits.

I agree. Why does it have to be a character. The Galactica would be a worthy final scene.

This is quite a nice scene. Nice to think of the Old Man with some time to really relax at last, surrounded by his grandkids...

I like these two scenarios the best. I really wouldn't like to see the Galactica going up though. I would like to see a scene where she is finally a museum, taking up a little corner of a vast orbiting shipyard, surrounded by dozens of new battlestars, and baseships, too, why not?

I think some kind of joint human-cylon scene wouldn't be surprising giving the general convergence between the two races over the course of the series.
