I saw this interesting tidbit on Youtube. I think the bit about them landing in NYC is more believable (and the point of view of the Brooklyn Bridge is from the Temple of Aurora, formerly the location of the Jehova's Witnesses' building known as "The Watchtower"), but still. Go to the very end of the clip and it suggests the bridge was in Sydney, Australia, from the point of view of the Sydney Opera House.

This is a picture from the inside of the opera house, it's much bigger than the one in the show...

I don't think it's nyc either, to be fair. I don't think it's 'our' Earth, but an in-universe one so it doesn't matter what city it is, just that it was a city not a village...:D

I'm from Sydney,
The Sydney Opera House on the other side of the Harbour Bridge.
the opera house in the show (if it was Sydney), would be located somewhere in a place called The Rocks, where there is no significant building (just a whole bunch of shops for tourists).
