This is the best bsg episode ever. It works excellent as a stand-alone episode, yet it pulls the story forward.

My favorite scene is when Apollo is going solo through the tunnel, Star Wars homage or not, it's excellent.

It also has the strongest music moment in the entire season with A Good Lighter/Wander My Friends. It's the first time anything went their way so the end scene I consider one of the happiest moments in the series.

This episode, for me, awoke the question if Baltar could be the "dying leader" since he saw that the vipers as serpents in his Head Six vision.

Snakes on a plane! I love this episode.

When Adama says, "sometimes you have to roll the hard six," why doesn't Roslin say, "what does that even mean?"

I find it a bit weird, after bringing up the "single human being" that Caprica Sharon shot when she rescued him, that Helo doesn't question why she shot another human. Or was the question itself a bit of a dig at her, or just brought up because he'd see a Six again soon? I like the way Sharon licks the sick off her lips. Helo carries a lot of food around in that little bag.

There's a sign in the lighter scene that reads "HB 1/03" - am I reading too much into HBO = 13?

I think the intonation Adama uses when he says, "because you're my son" is great. It affirms that he believes in Lee. It's the same intonation Socrata uses when she tells Kara, "because you're my daughter" in Maelstrom.

Interesting... when Dee gives the "pilots, man your planes" order, the general vibe is similar to A New Hope when they're getting into their X-wings.

The script during the decoy phase is as sharp as a razor.

lol @ Chuckles' death.

This episode is so cool.

Shocking epilogue.

One of the best of the show, indeed.
The desperate plan, the tension.
The first signs that Bill and Lee start to fill the gap that seperates them...
Also, I had forgotten about the backdoor, and was surprised just like the first time I saw it.

I have to admit, first time I saw it, the "backdoor" plan totally caught me by surprise, and I it was that moment that got me completely hooked.

Head 6 is an Angel of the one true God. I've been saying it for a while now, this ep adds a little more truth to that statement.

Ofcourse it was awesome :)

Home Part 2 will confirm your theory further when Head Six will tell Baltar, "I'm an angel of god sent here to protect you."

Doesn't she mention it in the mini as well?

Ok, something has always slightly bothered me in this episode.
Why is Baltar forced to guess wildly about where to bomb the cylon base? I know he's the cylon expert and all, but how could Kara and Tigh expect him to really know this? Couldn't Baltar just admit that he didn't have a clue?

I know, I know, it would hardly make for an interesting story (huh, guess we better go find another asteroid then...) and it sets up Baltar-as-the-instrument-of-God nicely, but.... it bothers me.

Anyone have a half-convincing explanation that would make me feel better?

That bothered me too. I guess that since he'd been speaking so authoritively on tylium moments before they assumed he knew everything there was to know about the damn stuff.

There's also the fulfilling of his ego to consider. From my interpretation, Baltar is the kind of person who liked "knowing everything" and the mere thought that he didn't have a clue was something his inner persona couldn't take so he just acted like he knew. Besides, if he had been wrong they had pretty much all had been wiped out sooner or later so there would have been none left to remember his mistake.

Good interpretation.

Hadn't thought of that....

Thanks guys, that's one little niggle I can lay to rest!

I think we can all go back to agreeing that this is a damn good episode.

With all this theorizing about Earth and the Final Cylon, the ambiguity and vagueness that's currently synonymous with BSG has, ever since S3, started getting staler and staler and frankly I'm getting sick of it. BSG needs more "honest" episodes like this. Who gives a stuff about the identity of the Final Cylon when you watch such an awesome actionfest like the one in this episode? No hints, no annoying ambiguities, just good old 'splodes.

In fact, I'm starting to wonder if a big opportunity was missed. It's too late in the series' life for another Hand of God.

Hear hear! This is truly the height of television.

In fact, I'm starting to wonder if a big opportunity was missed. It's too late in the series' life for another Hand of God.

I wouldn't count on it, there's always a chance for an epic episode in the end there. But I'm not gonna set my expectations up high, the unexpected is always the best, and since this episode was an early one, it sure got me by surprise.
