That Romo guy....
Given the rumours about Caprica is it concievable that Romo Lampkin is actually Joseph Adama? The whole 'mind transferal' thing.
Unfortunately there are a few hints towards this hence why I'm hoping someone shoots this fool idea down

If the theory is true then it makes the following line of dialogue possible:
"Lee... I am your grandfather!" - Romo Lampkin
... and that is just ultra lame.

"hey now there buddy I was just pointing out that Romo (as a character) makes NO BLOODY SENSE! He wasn't even a lawyer on Caprica, just hung out at the court house (forgot the actual wording) yet somehow he knows exactly what he is doing in that court room.... heck he could even write a few legal journals on how to assess people, where to find their weaknesses and how to exploit the legal system of the 12 Colonies.

Anyway come on people, shoot this damn silly notion down. I don't care how you do it but atleast give it a little effort.

a little more effort than pointing out that one of the main 'plot points' for Caprica is lame please ;)

oh fer cryin' out loud ..
from the wiki -- "Prior to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Fall_of_the_Twelve_Colonies), he worked in the public litigation office on Caprica (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Caprica_%28RDM%29), where he likely met and learned from Joseph Adama (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Joseph_Adama), a man whom he hated yet respected."
ok, they were in the same room together at the same time -- they're 2 different people!

Batman, I have not seen anything that made me think Romo is Joe Adama, it just popped into my head. What have you seen? I think I understand what you mean, when you asked for the idea to be shot down as soon as you posted it. It is a bit weird to have an "out there" idea that somehow feels right. I agree with what you say about Romo. There is definitely more to him than meets the eye.
Tell me more. I am intrigued.

I just found that... he might be onto something.
As for what 'I saw':
I saw a Grandfather helping his grandson to step out of his fathers shadow.
I saw a Master Lawyer, make the court dance to his own tune. Not just some public litigation officer, but a full on top of the line QC (Queens Council- the wig wearers hehe)
I heard the wisdom of age despite Romo's apparent youth.
http://www.thescifiworld.net/interviews/mark_sheppard_01.htm
oh god I feel like I'm tumbling into darkness....
Mark Sheppard: To me it’s almost as though Joseph Adama had a second family. You know that with fathers that have a second family there’s always a younger, there’s a middle kid. So the Grandson and the father, there is somebody in between them and they are inbetween in age as well as status. And I thought it was a fantastic thing to play. Most of my antagonism was actually played towards the Admiral not towards Lee. Even he noticed the 'family' type scenes......
Still though this is all just a 'gut' feeling, knowing what we know about Caprica it would be nieve to simply ignore the distinct possibility but Osprey I do so hope you're right and Leoben is wrong about Adama being a Cylon.....

Welcome Batman! Interesting theory you have there. That would definitely mess with BSG fans for generations to come. If we are honest, we know that the writers of BSG just want to mess with our minds until we lose our sanity. :p
Like most of us, I hope Adama isn't a Cylon, but we must contend with the fact that Leoben said "Adama is cylon." Yes, he can lie, but it is more likely he is mixing up the truth with a lie. So what is the truth?
My theory is that when the S7 cylons were made, each used some form of Adama DNA and/or Greystone DNA. According to the spoilers coming out about "Caprica," Adama's father and Greystone joined in a venture to recreate the daughters (Zoe Greystone and Tamara Adama) they lost in a bombing. It is concievable that each cylon has some form of Adama DNA, which would explain why "Adama is cylon." Basically, Adama and Lee are related to the S7 biologically.
This fits in with other facts as well. You know how everyone makes such a big deal about the fact that there is no Model 7? That is because the original Model 7 was susposed to be Tamara Adama, but she either never came to be or was scraped in place of another more effective model.
We shall see if all will indeed be revealed. If Romo Lampkin is either the final cylon or Adama's father, then congradulations to you for guessing that before any of the rest of us did. If not, at least you are thinking outside the box. I also applaud you for looking at "Caprica" for clues as to what the final BSG season will hold.

Just a bit of fun.
That conversation between Lampkin and Adama in SQN, where Lampkin asks Adama about his father's lighter, is a bit eerie in light of your discovery.

The first thing I want to say is that sometimes a wild idea is posted and instantly dismissed by the majority as crazy. I think sometimes these ideas, including this one, instead of being shot down without thought should be explored to see if they contain something that may point us in the right direction. Maybe the primary proposal that Romo is Joseph is wrong, but there is definitely something about him. His pain, his limp and walking stick, his cat, his air of age gained wisdom all make me think Batman is on to something. I for one am willing to travel with him on this part of the journey. The comment about the creators being willing to frak with our heads is spot on I think.
I am becoming more and more interested in Caprica, and the little I know seems to point to some form of human involvement in the cylon attacks.

And what are the three episodes called for this week.
I have just finished my last class, and am basically on holiday until september. I plan to continue neglecting my wife and kids and concentrate all my energy on BSG. So well done to me for that.

Classic.
Clarice Willow (http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Clarice_Willow) is.
Six Degrees of Separation, Flesh and Bone and Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down.
That'll take us into the season finale, and the time when we really need to start making nominations for the best of categories.

Ok... so I thought I'd skip ahead to Season 4 and than SNQ episode (or whatever it's called) and you know what, after watching the Romo scenes I still see the 'mentor' aspect. Even to the point that Romo holds a gun to Adama.... It's weird watching it now hehe.
Head Cat is an interesting development.... maybe the speculation about Head People is as simple as pointing out that only 'downloaded humans' suffer them.
Baltar died on Caprica : Head 6
Romo = Jo Adama : Head Cat
Roslin= Willow (I know it was meant as a joke but....) : Eloshia/Oprah House....
Obviously it's all speculation at the moment but IF (as we are lead to believe) Caprica tells us the events leading up to the attacks then surely there will be stuff that happens during the series that effect the passage of the fleet.
Um.... that was poorly worded.....
Things will 'carry over' between series. So obviously 'downloaded humans' HAVE to have some part to play in BSG 4.5+ otherwise why use them at all?
For the record I much perfer Romo to be Adama rather than the Final Cylon.

I dunno about the downloaded humans = head beings thing. What about Caprica Six and her Head Baltar? She's not human. If cylons count, too, why would only one individual (not even a whole model line) be afflicted?
I agree that there's something more to Romo, but I'm not sure about the downloaded Adama bit. If humans could download safely, why bother creating cylons to bring the daughters back? And why hasn't the Fleet been using this technology? Also, I don't know if his cat was really a head being, or if he was just crazy. Nobody else with a head being has mistaken it for the real thing still being alive, although Baltar seems to forget at times when talking to Head Six around others.

What about Caprica Six and her Head Baltar? um..... yeah I guess we can't just ignore that....
Nobody else with a head being has mistaken it for the real thing still being alive He knew it was dead, Lee kicked the empty cat bowl and said something to Romo about feeding the cat. It had been dead for weeks by the time Lee opens the bag

I think if this is true, then BSG wil become just like "Lost"...too many red herrings, silly tangents, or lame "coincidences". The Romo character is not that interesting, IMO, and making him Grandpa Adama creates too many questions that don't relate to the real story...but just seems like a cheap spin-off gimmick.
I don't have a problem with the theory, mind you. I just hope it doesn't turn out that way.

Everyone who shot Batman's theory down, give the guy a break. I think he may be on to something. Maybe he isn't right about Willow being Laura (based on the descriptions and spoilers I have seen, Model 3 could easily be Willow), but I think that the series "Caprica" will reveal how the S7 came to be.
I firmly believe that we will find out that the S7 will share at least some genetic traits with both Adama and Greystone. I believe that the S7 are also some sort of "test" for the human race. Consider the names of their creators.
Adama-Adam (biblical name for the first name AKA Alpha)
Greystone-Gray stone (as in grave stone marking? AKA Omega)
Coincidence? Foreshadowing? Another way to frak with our minds? Do we care?
Batman, for what it is worth, I think we need to at least think through your theory before shooting it down completely.

.....I was sooo hoping this thread would only last a post or two. Though I wasn't the one who made the Willow = Roslin comment ;) But you know it might actually turn out to be 'that' painful..... Romo = Jo Adama, Roslin = Willow (it would explain the Oprah House and other stuff)
Zak could be Helo for all we know <.< lol ok ok maybe not
and now that we learn we will be seeing the Caprica pilot before the rest of S4.5 the plot only thickens. Why would they show Caprica before revealing the final cylon to us?
Capria = 2hr explanation for 'what the frack is going on' It saves screen time in BSG, it reveals stuff to us that the Galactica/Cylon/Colonials may not know (or even need to know)
I just hope everything finishes off shiney

I don't think this decision has anything to do with BSG. We will only get to see the Caprica pilot in 2008 if the series is not green-lit in the next few weeks. If it is then the pilot will be the first two episodes of Season One and will be shown in 2009 after BSG ends.

Batman, you need to raise the mainsail, mizzen your gibbets, weigh anchor and just let this baby take you where it wants to go. You should be as proud of your ugly babies as you are of the beautiful ones. So batten down the hatches, capn, thar she blows. Give her her head number one, we are rounding the cape.
