View Full Version : Non-day player, non-last-supper, non-dead, non-already-a-cylon Final Cylon Poll

Basically, this is the thread that discourages any thinking outside of the box and just takes what RDM has said to us at face value and follows with the generally accepted knowledge about the show.

None of the above.
I second that. Please add this option to the poll. Ρόδου περιοχής Καναματ

I understand why you are asking that, but I specifically didn't want to add that option. Looking back I didn't really express what I wanted to.
Let me explain myself a bit though, specifically I'm curious if you had to choose a final cylon based upon the information we've been given so far, who would it be? So in this case, RDM has said no one from the picture, then no one from the picture is allowed to be considered. Someone also said not a day-player...which RDM has defined himself as a guest star. For the other two...not being a cylon and having them be alive, that's based upon the logic of the show that's been revealed to us up until Revelations.
If however, you have a suggestion for a character that doesn't fall under any of the four categories, that I didn't include, then I'll add that to the poll.

I understand what you're getting at and what you want to exclude, but having one of the Final Five operating amongst the Cylons is not beyond the logic of the show, so it would have to be 'none of the above' for me.

Most of those people were in the fleet when D'Anna said that there were only four in the fleet. So they are all eliminated.
And nobody ever said that the last Cylon is still alive. ;) In fact, dead people are the only viable remaining suspects.

Exactly.

I'm willing to accept that D'anna lied about that for her own purposes, it definitely wouldn't be the first time she's used deception to her advantage and she's got a lot more to lose this time around. =P
I would argue that while there is no specific exclusion of a current model also being another cylon, after having read all the theories it requires too much of a stretch and too many assumptions about what will happen for me to accept them. Nextly, while I personally believe that the final cylon is still alive, I'm more willing to accept that a person died and was resurrected on Earth or wherever the people of Earth are right now and is waiting for them, than it being a current model in disguise or whatever.

The theory depends specifically on the supposition that the Fifth is not an existing numbered model, and to state that it is is to completely misunderstand the theory. Boomer is not an Eight (in the context of the theory), whereas Athena is an Eight.

I do understand the theory. =P Boomer is a seven, not an eight...I remember you writing that down actually. ^_^ I just think that it's been hammered into our heads enough times that every copy within the model is the exact same AND none of the known eleven cylons possess anything that looks like a common characteristic.
Anyway, I think it's Gaeta anyway...howl, singing, suffering...

Regardless of who the fifth is, it is not so that every copy within the model is the exact same. We have certainly been shown differences among 6s, 8s and even 5s, having a different style or outlook on things. We have had models that couldn't decide which way to vote because there were too many dissidents (6s on Baltar), or where individuals went against the model (twice or even thrice, with the 8s). How is that possible if they are all the exact same?
And not possessing common characteristics? What about religious fervor, shared between 3s and 6s? A desire for children, shared between all the female models? I'm sure there are others.

well.... Gina, the copy of six that was tortured by Cain. Just before Baltar handed her the gun, he promised her a safe hiding place. She also would not shoot herself since she considered that a sin. There was no scene indicating her capture. Also there is no indication that her fellow cylons know she is alive. I don't recall Baltar ever revealing that she is still alive to anyone. She is not in the last supper picture either. There's also Godfrey. Maybe Gina = Godfrey which would mean that there are unanswered questions about the Pegasus.
Thats my rant for the day =D

Well, she was alive until she blew herself up with a nuke away from any Ressurection Ship, taking those who know shes alive (except Baltar) away with her. It is possible that the Fleet security (Adama etc...) put two and two together and concluded that the Cylon that shot Cain could be the one responsible for the attack but thats all.
Plus RDM clearly said she finally and completely died.
Godfrey, I have no clue what the frak she was/is although she is not Gina :p

Out of the ones listed I'd say Tom Zarek, but I still don't think that the final one is any of the ones listed. At the moment I'm guessing Starbuck clone, höhö.

You should update your On Episode in the User CP.

Its a bit tricky for me. I started half way through season 3 all the way to the mid finale of season 4. I wasn't really interested in starting from the beginning at the time until I read on the web that the beginning has clues about how the series will end.
BSG is like pizza. Even the bad episode are still pretty good and fun to watch.

Out of the given choices I pretty much think that Dee, Gaeta and Zarek might be the most likely candidates (don't ask me why, it's just a hunch) but out of those I want it to be Zarek.
gods i'm officially tired of this question ...
Yeah, I wish they would reveal the 5th already. It's almost like the question of the identity of the 5th has nearly completely overtaken the BSG fans/fandom. And in the end the reveal will still be a big letdown, no matter who it turns out to be, and people will complain left and right. Sorry for the mini-rant.

hey, rant away -- i think rdm made a tactical choice not to do the reveal before the end of 4.0, so he can live with the consequences of that choice!
:-)
my "wish list" for 4.5:
* earth's condition explained
* the final, boffo confrontation between the anti-human cylons and everyone else
* humanity finds a real, actual planet home -- or they don't
* kara ends up with someone for good
and, oh yeah, mebbe at some point if there's a lull in the action --
* the 12th cylon is revealed

I'll second Osprey's list and add another; Head six and head Baltar is explained in another way than "Angel sent by god".

Yeah, I wish they would reveal the 5th already.
It would be astonishing (and I'd totally buy into it) if they revealed the identity of the Fifth out-of-season, as it were, i.e. before the next episode hits our screens.

I really don't want them to be explained. Apart from when Baltar was interrogated I don't think they've ever even been mentioned by the character who experiences them to any other character. Is that right? I'd like them to remain a mystery, although I am intrigued by the notion that their purpose is to derail the Final Five in whatever purpose they have.

yeah, all they are to me is a semi-cool device rdm came up with to show the torment gaius puts himself through [and, to a lesser extent, caprica puts herself though] ...
