Nugget introductions? Oh hi yeah my name is Juan or something and I'm from Uzbekistan or something and I like Battlestar or whatever (hey there could be a Juan in Uzbekistan)... how very unsatisfying. Tell me something useful (note: this thread may be used for pure identity theft purposes).
Copy and paste my hot questions all over your new post and then give me your answers, all over my chops.
1. What's your name?
Richie
2. Where you from?
UK (near Liverpool, originally London though)
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
It means it's time for your Blucey bonus.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
Well over. I'm 33. Like Jesus.
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
London. If I could be arsed. Which I can't. At all.
6. BSG in a word:
sexalicious.
7. How did you get into BSG?
Talked into it by brother-in-law. Bought the miniseries, watched it, came oil all over your chops.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Totally. I still get the blank stares though.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
3.4 or the last one in series 3.
10. Fave character?
Saul Tigh, obviously. Prez is a close second (om nom nom nom)
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
Gash.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
V. Lizard bastards up in your face like blah!
Alien 1-4, Predator 1-2, Terminator 1 and 3 (2 can piss off).
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Oz, The Shield, The Wire, Sarah Connor, The New Statesman.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Repo Man.
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
F**king Alien Vs Predator: Requiem. Even worse than Nurse Betty and, by that standard, Hitler, AIDS, cancer and Anne Diamond.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Ron Perlman.
Sigourney Weaver.
Harry Dean Stanton.
Kurt Russell (in the 80s).
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Indy Jones and something or other about a skull. It was unbelievably stupid and the CGI was awful but despite that, quite enjoyed it.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
Dead Man's Curve (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123034/) - very nice thriller with Matthew Lillard.
18. What are you listening to these days?
An album by Alice in Chains and some things by Poison The Well.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Ralph Wiggum by The Bloodhound Gang.
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Simply Red - quite simply the most evil force on this planet. Horrible music that slows our evolution as humans. If you own anything by them, consider suicide.
Stereophonics - bland British rockband who I hold responsible for killing what was left of the UK rock scene by producing the lamest rock music ever.
Lost Prophets - you're not American you c*nts, so stop pretending to be by singing with an accent and driving around in left-hand drive cars in your videos. Rubbish, sellout, pop-drivel PRICKS.
Blue - the worst of all the boybands. Utterly vacuous trash with four members that clearly belong on some kind of sex offender's register.
Whitney - I will always hate you.... ooo....eee..oooeeeeee...woahhhhh...oohhh..eee....o ooooooh. stupid, vocal hystrionics-obsessed crackhead bitch. Sixteen f'ing weeks at number 1 in the UK. Never forgive, never forget.
21. Best gig you've been to?
Million Dead in 2005. The best band of the last few years playing to 60 people only. Excellent.
Fugazi in 2002. Supported by Q and Not U. This was a good thing.
Killing Joke in 2006. The best of the 10 or so times I've seen them.
22. Favourite drink?
Tea. Aaah.
23. Favourite food?
The simple pleasure of a good mushroom omelette.
24. Last book you read?
The Hate Factory. A thing about the 1980 New Mexico Prison riot. Couldn't finish it. Was far too bleak.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Marcia Cross. Om nom nom nom.
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
Direct all funding into making Skynet.
27. Moment of 2008?
John Terry's slip in the Champions League final. The funniest thing of all time.
28. Caprica will be....
Unsatisfying.

4.10 best cliff-hanger in years anywhere

Anything by Stephen King especially the 'drama' stuff

17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?

Smokey Robinson
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Can't.
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Oasis - group with no talent whatsoever, have been sued on numerous occasions with the likes of George Harrison and the estates of John Lennon and Mark Bolan. Have settled out of court to keep it from the public. The music hurts my soul.
Destiny's Child - Bloody female R'n'B group, who as the name suggests, was a way for Beyonce Knowles to break into 'showbusiness' and very little else.
Coldplay - Whiney, ignorant, plodding, pompous, pretentious, chintzy wallpaper music designed for the numb-minded who probably bought portishead's fist album to play at dinner parties. Idiots.
PS I like portishead.
Bon Jovi - They're just bad musicians stuck in a bland genre with little hope of revelation.
21. Best gig you've been to?
Arthur Lee's Love playing forever changes with full string backing, Brighton Dome. Just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

1. What's your name?
Ben
2. Where you from?
Currently, I am in Jonesboro, Arkansas but I came from Indio, California (it's near enough to Palm Springs to make it notable) and Virginia.
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
It's supposed to rhyme. One of my favourite shows (I had the username from before the new series) and a reference to the Answer to the Ultimate Question to Life, the Universe and Everything.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
19 right now. I'm getting there.
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Somewhere other than here.. Maybe an airship or in the movie Blade Runner.
6. BSG in a word:
Awesome.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I watched the reruns of the Original Series on the Sci Fi Channel.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Yes.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
I haven't been caught up since I am without Internet (I am at the library) or cable, so I will refrain from picking. If at gunpoint though: 33.
10. Fave character?
It's somewhere between Adama, Baltar and Tyrol...
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
It's good. I grew up on it, and ignored the spin-off.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Doctor Who, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Prisoner, and too many to include..

Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla. The twist ending made my insides twinge.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Patrick McGoohan.
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Hellboy II. I thought it was great myself, and even better the second time. I hope there's a third one although the box office while making #1 did seem to underperform.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
Six-String Samurai (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118736/) - combine the elements of Russian surfabilly rock-and-roll, a sword-wielding six-string playing Buddy Holly-look-a-like samurai, and a battle between good and evil (or rock-and-roll and heavy metal) amid a 50s-esque post-apocalyptic wasteland and you get this movie.
The American Astronaut (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243759/) - a sci-fi western musical art film that does an amazing job with a shoe-string budget: it's better than it sounds.
18. What are you listening to these days?
Coast to Coast AM, although it's not the same without Art Bell.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
I also can't.
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
I'm afraid I'm not very musically literate.
21. Best gig you've been to?
I have seen Kids in the Hall (the Canadian comedy troupe - not the rap group) in Nashville. The best time I have ever had.
22. Favourite drink?
Tea.
23. Favourite food?
Potstickers.
24. Last book you read?
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk (who also wrote Fight Club). A great novel about the last surviving member of a death cult and his trip down the dehumanising road of being a celebrity/religious icon.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Diana Rigg circa 1960s. Not now...
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
Fund a secret project in supplying me the materials to build a time-machine, and ditch the planet when the time strikes (unless I change my mind).
27. Moment of 2008?
Seeing Kids in the Hall in person. I would have evidence, except the person who took the pictures for me never e-mailed them to me.. I also didn't get to meet Dave Foley, but he would have been mobbed by fangirls.
28. Caprica will be....
Different.

Patrick McGoohan.
Damn it, I always leave something out.
"What do you want?"

"You won't get it!"
Ha! the delivery of that line encompasses the entire premise and is pulled of with proper ferocity.

5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
The Galactica
6. BSG in a word:
Best.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I'm ashamed to say I was anti-scifi so my fiance made me watch it in exchange for thai food. I saw how happy it made him to watch it so I agreed to keep watching the series. By the end of season 1 I couldn't imagine loving another TV series as much.

18. What are you listening to these days?

Joe Beaudoin Jr.
July 17th, 2008, 04:12 PM
1. What's your name?
Joe
2. Where you from?
Presently, Vero Beach, Florida... that's somewhere on the droopy phallic looking thing on North America...
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?

4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
Under; 24
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
I'll figure that out when I see and experience a place I like.
6. BSG in a word:
Complex
7. How did you get into BSG?
Got into TOS when I was younger. Watched it on the SCIFI Channel after I'd get home from school. Found it interesting. Later, in 2000 or so before the Miniseries, I ran a small little site called the "Battlestar Galactica InfoSphere", which is more or less the precursor to "Battlestar Wiki". Anyway, I participated in the revival efforts, and was more than a bit cold to the RDM's vision of things. Didn't really care for the Miniseries all that much, and still do not... Didn't come to love the Re-imagined Series until I saw the SkyOne pirated eps of the first season, then liked the show.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
I've personally given up trying to convert people, simply beacuse of the unintelligent prejudice that surrounds science fiction. Had the same thing happen when I tried to get people to watch Babylon 5 or even Farscape.
It seems like people need to be tortured into even watching the show, yet they'd be willing to watch something pathetic as American Idol, a pathetic game show, or even Ghost Hunters...
In summation, don't get me started.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
I like most of the episodes from the first season, and the first half of season two. The third season felt flat to me, particulalry with all the worthless standalone episodes (Dirty Hands, The Woman King, etc.). Season Four has restored my faith in the show, otherwise I would have probably stopped watching.
10. Fave character?
Saul Tigh. Bill Adama.
I would say Tom Zarek, except the writers now use him as a plot device... Wasted potential.
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
When it was great, it was great. When it sucked, it sucked. Overall, a series before its time and poorly executed because of Grand Larceny.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Babylon 5, Farscape, or Max Headroom (more cyber-punk, but SF in a Philip K. Dick / William Gibson way).
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Stargate SG-1, Eureka (it's simply fun), shows by Irwin Allen (again, simply because they're fun), Space: 1999, UFO, Babylon 5, Max Headroom, Angel.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Clerks. (The period is deliberate.)
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Any post-The Sixth Sense movie by My I'm Overrated Shamasuck.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Edward James Olmos
Martin Landau
Mary McDonnell
David Tennant
Matt Frewer
David Duchovony
Gillian Anderson
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Iron Man. It was better than I expected.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
Echoing Stairway's sentiment here: A Dog's Breakfast by David Hewlett. Absolutely brilliant and hilarious.
18. What are you listening to these days?
BSG soundtracks, George Carlin, Breaking Benjamin, Nine Inch Nails
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
None come to mind right now.

21. Best gig you've been to?
Don't care for live concerts.
22. Favourite drink?

23. Favourite food?
Most Italian dishes, but that's because I'm part Italian.
Otherwise, I mainly eat subs at either Quiznos or Subway, whichever is closest.
24. Last book you read?
Novelization to "War of the Gods".
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Amy Acker or Elisa Duskhu
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
Clean house with most elected republicans, democrats -- I'm thinking public executions, similar to the French Revolution. Hillary SpitsorSwallows Clinton and Barak Hussien Obama and John Warmonger McCain would all be publicly tarred, feathered, and cruicified upside down and splashed with small amounts of mutaric acid (a la Chinese water torture).
As for that piece of garbage Lieberman from CT... there's an ash tray for him!
All this would be as an example of how fake and felgercarb ridden the US government has become.
Also, I would have the USAF bomb Wal*Marts and Best Buys around the world, just because those places are hives of scum and villany. Yeah, I'm freaking dark...
Oh and anyone named "Rudy" would be summarily executed. That means Rudy Guliani has an appointment with Satrioles Meat Supply.
27. Moment of 2008?
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog by Joss Whedon.
The ending scene of "Revelations". We've been Charlie Horsed.
28. Caprica will be....
Pretty freaking good from everything I've seen.

7. How did you get into BSG?
Some geeky guy in work went on and on about it for literally years. Then I read Kevin Smith's My Boring-ass Life. I took the word of a celeb I've never met over someone I know has taste (however dubious).
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
People I know usually watch what I want them to because they can't be arsed with what they know will be wasted hours trying to fight it.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
Crossroads Part 2 - the return of Starbuck was a killer moment. There are many other equally stunning episodes, including the latest, but Kara's return was "a good thing".
10. Fave character?
Athena.
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
Gash, but without it, you know...
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
I'd go along with Sunshine, maybe Firefly. I respect sci-fi, but I don't like it.
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Shogun, Yes Minister/Prime Minister, Flowery Twats, The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin, The Office, a bit. I'm struggling. I don't watch TV any more. It's generally appallingly bad.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Dogma.
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Lion/Witch/Wardrobe.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
No particular order: Ian McKellen, Julianne Moore, Kevin Spacey, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Alan Rickman, etc.
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Can't remember. Possibly Lion/Witch/Wardrobe. Cinema sucks. Sound systems suck, the projector's built-in anti-focus sucks, sharing a room with 200 nobheads sucks.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
Mr Frost. Pan-Euro movie, prob with Canal Plus funding. Awkward but interesting.
Everyone's seen Chopper, right?
18. What are you listening to these days?
The Mars Volta.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Tomorrow Never Knows.
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Moby, Moby, Moby, Moby and Moby. I like Pink Floyd, but music shouldn't be as unrelentingly depressing as Moby makes it.
21. Best gig you've been to?
Pink Floyd in 87/88-ish at Maine Road. Marked the moment my dad and I started to meet on common ground. Not keen on gigs. Sharing the room with 2,000 nobheads sucks.
22. Favourite drink?
Sencha. That cup when I get in from work and I don't have to do anything else till I've finished it. How it lasts.
23. Favourite food?
Haggis, mash and carrot and turnips.
24. Last book you read?
Sword Song by Bernard Cornwell.
25. Desert Island crumpet?
Lai San.
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....

27. Moment of 2008?
Each time I see Ollie grow up a bit more.
28. Caprica will be....
Artistically amazing but a ratings disaster.

1. What's your name?
Liz (Westie)
2. Where you from?
Bristol, UK
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
It’s what everyone calls me (surname=Weston). Not that exciting.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
21
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Don’t want to put down permanent roots down for a while yet.
6. BSG in a word:
Addictive
7. How did you get into BSG?
My friend had been talking about it for ages and I always kinda rolled my eyes but then finally tried it out for curiosity’s sake. Watched the entire first three seasons in about 3 weeks, and funnily enough, saw the Miniseries last. Did not know what the HELL was going on in 33.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Every single day.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?

12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Firefly, 4400
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Was a big fan of Buffy, Firefly and 4400. Friends is amazing comfort TV. I love to hate the L word.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?

15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Bewitched. Think we got the times wrong at the cinema and missed the film we actually wanted to see.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Meh….
I do actually quite like Brad Pitt. For such a pretty face he’s done some good movies. Alan Rickman, Johnny Depp. Don't tend to watch things based on who's in it...
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Gone Baby Gone. Surprisingly excellent.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
The Boondock Saints. Two Irish Catholic brothers turn vilgilantes in Boston. It has Billy Connelly as a bad-ass gangster and Willem Dafoe as an amazingly sarcastic gay detective. Surely that’s all you need to know?
18. What are you listening to these days?
All sorts – right now on a weird mixture of the Ramones, Le Tigre and Primal Scream. I do listen to the BSG soundtracks a lot.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Ummm…. There are a couple of options but I’m too embarrassed to say them.
……(Ice Ice Baby?) *hides*
20. Most hated bands (go on have five)?
Kate Nash and all her accented ilk. ‘Foundations’ makes me want to hit things. Usher, Akon, Craig David and all other featureless RnB. Ballad-y boy bands.

Nothing beats a pint of lager

A Sunday roast

Impose mandatory environmental controls.
27. Moment of 2008?
Personally? Finishing my uni finals.
28. Caprica will be....
Unlike Battlestar. Good, but won't make it past a first season (in Firefly manner)

Nah, I'll have to try it tho.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
The one where we find out Helo surived the attack on Caprica. Thts when I knew this series was going to be more arc based awesomeness than you can shake a stick at.
10. Fave character?
Helo, I like his objectivity and his moral dilemas. Hoe hes converted from blind patriotism to universal morals. The one I least like is Roslin, not just cause she a b****, I can dealwith flawed character - in fact I enjoy them - but because she is annoying. The dictatorship thatXarrick mentions in season 4 has been going for a while, and Im glad the writers acknowledged that they have writen her and Adama as an overbearing king and queen.

Gash. Wasnt even campy fun like Knight Rider.

4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
20 and feeling it :( I now know how depressing it is to play online FPS with kids that are younger than you. lol
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Hmmm. Most likely Ireland. Stayed there for 30 days and found that the weather agreed with me.
6. BSG in a word:
Brilliance
7. How did you get into BSG?
Some years ago, a Canadian friend informed me of the excellence that was BSG. I demanded to know why the humans spoke English, used our technology, and worshipped our ancestors' gods. Having not seen a single episode, I insisted that the humans must have originally been from Earth. My friend refuted this with the claim that the show occured in an alternate universe.
It was not until the winter of 2007, gearing up for midterms, that I decided to start watching BSG. I had gone an entire semester listening to two friends praise the show for its realism and badassery. By the time I finished the mini-series, I was hooked.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
I have yet to proslyetize BSG. I've entertained the thought of bringing my dad into the show, but with three and a half seasons to watch, and his free time strained as it is, I don't think he could do it.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
Possibly Kobol's Last Gleaming I/II. Most of season 1 was exceptional and stands to be rewatched.
10. Fave character?
Baltar ;)
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
My earliest memory of Old BSG is, "man, this is like a boring version of Star Wars" (thoughts of a 7 year old subjected to brainwashing by nerdy uncles).
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
In book form, Dune. On the screen, Empire Strikes Back (if, while watching Empire Strikes Back, I can imagine that the Prequels were 6 years of overly funded and sub par fan-films).
13. Favourite other TV shows?
I don't watch enough television. Heroes was enjoyable until it took on the Dragon Ball Z-esque approach of, "Next time on Heroes, something actually will happen!". That, and every fight scene was lackluster. I might start watching Wired...
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Pulp Fiction.
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Thankfully, my memory of it is faint--Cats and Dogs. More recently, Cat Woman and Epic Movie.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp.
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
I see too many and the wallet notices. Pineapple Express was fun, if not overdone by the finale.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
I don't scour indie film forums.
18. What are you listening to these days?
Arcade Fire.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Never Gonna Give You Up.
(you've just been text-rolled.)
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Nirvana (Smells like Teen Spirit? Smells like the radio has no taste), every band that finds its way onto MTV or 100.3 (and tortures me when I am in the presence of my sisters), and bands that I recognize by painful rhyme rather than name.
21. Best gig you've been to?
lmao, best and only gig--Third Eye Blind concert at my school. Crowd surfing was a spectacle.
22. Favourite drink?
A tie between Arizona Ice Tea and Orange Vitamin Water.
23. Favourite food?
Sweet potato, chicken cutlets, spumoni.
24. Last book you read?
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy/Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
25. Desert Island crumpet?
Supermarket-Mazzot.
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
I'd wear the title Imperator Mundi, resurrect Latin, reconstruct Manhattan in the neo-classical style, and see about space colonization.
27. Moment of 2008?
Midnight escapade into an abandoned school library.
28. Caprica will be....
One-two seasons max, and the death of the "mystery" of the Cylons.

Difficult. Toss up between the mini, the Pegasus arc and Razor.
10. Fave character?
Adm. Cain. And her kickass ship.
Honourable mention to Adm. Adama and his kickass ship.
11. Old BSG... good or gash?

12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Movies and TV, right? Aliens, The Iron Giant, Serenity, Firefly, The (first) Matrix, Children of Men, the new Batman films, Iron Man. I've probably missed a few. If we're going to include games, I'm adding the Half-Life saga.
13. Favourite other TV shows?

22. Favourite drink?
Tea. Nothing beats its imperial taste.
23. Favourite food?
Sausage fusili. Don't knock it til you've tried it.
24. Last book you read?
Old Man's War. Intriguing sci-fi Starship Troopers influenced book with the premise that you have to be seventy-five to join the armed forces.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?

19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
42 by Coldplay (worst lyrics ever). The song sucks, not the band, they've had their moments.
My gods, I wrote that? I must have been consuming too much ambrosia while answering that question. Anyway, I misinterpreted that.
I do like the song "That's the way my heart goes" by Marie Sernholt, although I doubt anyone in this forum has heard of her. If you do I'll buy you a Piggelin (http://revoltmedia.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/275_11.jpg) whenever you get to Sweden. :D

Muse at Wembley Stadium, London, 2007. Massive gig by my favourite band.
Radiohead at Victoria Park, London, 2008. Close contender to the above.
Lucky! I hear Muse is awesome in concert...
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Ohh, that explains an otherwise arbitrary question. My answer would probably be the same ;)

Hadn't noticed this thread (which tells me I should look at other parts of the forum other than the one about the series). Anyway, here me.
1. What's your name?
Ahmet
2. Where you from?
Turkey. Living in the UK for university. Also lived in Switzerland for some years.
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
I liked the sound of it though it first came to me when I was bedridden due to getting sunstruck. I just held on to it since I am very bad with making up names.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
I'm 21
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
I hear New Zealand is pretty nice. Wouldn't mind one of the Nordic countries as well.
6. BSG in a word:
Awesome
7. How did you get into BSG?
I came across a rerun of Kobol's Last Gleaming on TV while I was visiting home. First I was just glacing at it but it caught my attention. Even though I understood nothing ("Shes a Cylon? I thought theyre robots?" "Huh theyre Pagans?" "So only he sees her?") I knew I wanted more when I watched it.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Sometimes I do. I tend to mention aspects that are not traditionally scifi.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
The whole Kobol Arc, Crossroads Pt II, Faith, Guess Whats Coming to Dinner, Revelations.
10. Fave character?
Tigh is great to watch as is Baltar. I have a soft spot for Leoben as well.
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
I can understand why people liked it. I would like to see it fully out of curiosity and to get familiar with the show that has spawned my favourite Scifi show but I don't consider myself a fan of the old series nor do I agree the "mood" of it. I guess "respect" is the word I would use to the old series. I don't like to see it getting slagged like how some people do.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Dune, Starship Troopers, Matrix, Homeworld series (at least the first one), Starcraft universe, the Command and Conquer universe.
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Six Feet Under, Millennium, the 4400, Lost, Heroes (though mostly 1st season so far).
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Just one?
Let it be "Fight Club".
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
War of the Worlds (the one with Tom Cruise)
16. Favourite actor(s)?
I'm very bad with remembering actors to be honest. I enjoy Brad Pitt, Terry O'Quinn, Lance Henriksen. I'm sure there are others though my reaction to familiar actors is usually along the lines of "Oh its the guy/woman that played ****"
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Children of Men. Awesomly depressive and violent as it should be when humanity decides to go out with a bang  Haven't been to the movies in a while though.
18. What are you listening to these days?
Nothing specific. Rages from BSG soundtrack to various songs I come across here and there. I don't have a specific taste in music and will listen to anything with a "feel".
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Can't think of any.
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
*shrug*
21. Best gig you've been to?
There isn't one.
22. Favourite drink?
Ice Tea (Lemon Flavor), Red Wine, Vodka, Water.
23. Favourite food?
Pizza
24. Last book you read?
The World Without Us.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
*shrug* I'm a loner.
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
There wouldn't be anyone else left
27. Moment of 2008?
That stuff in Russia is turning out to be interesting doesn't it?
28. Caprica will be....
Im intrugued so far. Keeping my expectations low though.

Yea the photos I saw from someone who went to NZ (plus the LotR movies) all give me the impression of a fairly lush and natural landscape.
You can find pretty much any climate in Turkey and even variations of heat. The heat in the Mediterranean coast (south, Antalya and around there) is more humid and sticky whereas the heat in the Aegean coast (Southwest, Izmir, Bodrum etc...) often has winds that take the worst of heat away. Not sure where you've been to though. But yea it is a beautiful country.
Yeah, you're not allowed to say that on this forum.
Oh I doubt I will ever do that to any of the BSG actors

Yeah - Bodrum/Halicarnassus: nice, hot, but bearable. Great town. Amazing kebabs. I've failed repeatedly to recreate that type of kebab where the meat and bread is served in a soup of tomato sauce. I loved it. And the aubergine/tomato dish. Mmmm.
Ephesus. Christ. Dry, baking, murderous heat. I remember a village, too, with a tomb or mausoleum at the top of of a hill.
And Kusadasi = Benidorm. Yuck.
But Bodrum was lovely and the bus rides were great, with that lemon water thing they pass around.
Mostly I remember getting out of Bodrum into to the villages where the people in shops and on the street were so gentle and friendly. As opposed to the market guys in Bodrum who kept grabbing my girlfriend's arse. lol.

10. Fave character?

1. What's your name?
Varun
2. Where you from?
Maryland, USA. I go to school in NJ though, same as Pnutmaster.
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
Nothing. I picked a stupid AIM screenname similar to it when I was in sixth grade and it has stuck for years. I figured instead of adding numbers to the end, I put the word "The" in front.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
Under, lulz. I turned 20 just recently..
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Canada or India (motherland, bitches!)
6. BSG in a word:
Heavenly.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I was aware of the existence of the show for well over two years by the time I entered college. However, the name itself sounded far too dorky for me to get into... and then I got into Stargate :P. After watching the whole SG-1 series and all of Atlantis to that point, I started broadening my options.
Then in sophomore year I met a friend who basically told me that the series was far from dorky (he's a mutual friend of mine and Pnutmaster). I decided to check it out, and around October I was hooked, line and sinker. I finished the miniseries and all of the first two seasons within a time span of about a full weekend, Friday morning through Sunday night. I saw Razor the following weekend. Then I finished the third season a little later. I may have helped pressure Tom into watching it :P.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Of course, lol. I wasn't into sci fi beyond Star Wars novels in high school so most of my friends from high school were like "duhr what?" when I said that this series was worth watching. I managed to get my brother into it. Alas, I have not yet managed to indoctrinate my friend Kevin into it :(.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
I have a few favorites: Revelations, Resurrection Ship Pt 1 and 2, Exodus Pt 1 and 2, and the Third season two parter.
10. Fave character?
Probably a tie between Baltar, Zarek, and Admiral Adama (man with iron BALLS)
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
Eh, it was corny, but I can see some things to appreciate.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Heh, this is where I can nerd out. Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Star Trek TNG, Star Wars original series (more so Ep IV and V), Firefly, and Heroes.
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Lots. Heroes, House MD, Sarah Connor Chronicles. I watch a bit of anime, Code Geass and Bleach.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
The Dark Knight
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Alone in the Dark. Pretty much anything made by Uwe Boll makes me want to use a branding iron on my eyes.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
The Dark Knight, of course. Probably my favorite movie to date.

6. BSG in a word:
wBoSrGd. ;)
Seriously, though, I would say kick-arse, assuming hyphenated counts as a single word.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I remember sitting down with my dad way long ago for the original BSG movie and it was love at first sight. When Galactica 1980 came out, I loved it as well (what can I say, I was a kid...) But when this version came out, OMFGWTFBBQ!!!!! GIVE ME MORE!!!!!
I guess i'm a little addicted lol

So far, I'd have to say 4.10.
10. Fave character?
Kara Thrace... She's so hot...
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
It got me hooked, so can't be all bad lol
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
V, most Star Trek (But I refuse to accept Enterprise as being part of the series), and Dr. Who.
13. Favourite other TV shows?
How It's Made, Deadliest Catch, House.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
The Day The Earth Stood Still.
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
X-Tro.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Christopher Walken.
Glenn Danzig (Prophesy 2 - 30 seconds on screen and killed by an angel? He's got to be one of the greatest actors in the world!!!)
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
Ummm... Last one I remember seeing would have to be Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Rings. I mostly do DVDs.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.

Disturbed and Danzig.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:

20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
ANY boy-band. I think that got me at least 5 right there... and just to make sure, almost all Rap. lol

Would have to say October 30'th 2007, Allentown PA, Crocodile Rock - The Misfits - 30'th Anniverscary Tour.

1. What's your name?

3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?

4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
Umm... I'm in 25.
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Anywhere on the Pacific coast.
6. BSG in a word:
Battlestaristically-galactacular
7. How did you get into BSG?
To be honest, I resisted getting into the show for a few years. I watched reruns of the original and I liked it in all it's campy glory. I was a little disappointed with sci-fi as a whole for the last 5 years and didn't really believe the hype of BSG. Somehow I kept reading episode synopses and reviews and my coworker convinced me. I bought Season 1 on DVD and watched it straight through. By the end of the month I bought all the DVDs available at the time and watched it through the end of Season 3 just in time to catch the beginning of Season 4.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Yes, damn it! I'm currently trying to convert my fiance.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
It's a tie between Kobol's Last Gleaming and Lay Down Your Burdens.
10. Fave character?
Tylor's pretty bad-ass.
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
It was a good concept, but very campy compared to the new BSG. I enjoyed it, but watching it now makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a chopstick.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Babylon 5 was pretty good.
13. Favourite other TV shows?
I don't really watch TV, unless I catch an occasional Scrubs.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Fight Club, hands down!
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
Luckily I have a shitty memory, so I don't remember.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Fuck, I don't know.
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
The Dark Knight - better than the last Batman movie.
18. What are you listening to these days?
A bunch of shitty techno and rock for working out.
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
I'm a Believer - The Monkees
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Every band with a number or purposely misspelled word in their name.
21. Best gig you've been to?
To see a bunch of hippie bands at Red Rocks.
22. Favourite drink?
Royal Milk Tea.
23. Favourite food?
Pho.
24. Last book you read?
American's don't read books, we liberate them from their oppresive words by shitting all over them.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Pass.
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
Nuke everything.
27. Moment of 2008?
It hasn't happened yet.
28. Caprica will be....
Just like 90% of the other sci-fi schlock that I've watched - I will desperately try to like it and I'll end up watching every episode until it gets canceled only to realize that I've hated it the whole time. I'm just being realistic <-- the excuse of every pessimist

Just barely under.
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
In the middle of a forest with the only access via helicopter. Of course southern California would need to be close by.
6. BSG in a word:
Can I say that on here?
7. How did you get into BSG?
I guess it is because of my cousin and his friend but I didn't watch it until a friend, who happens to be a girl, forced me to.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
Nah.. I'll just drop a frack here and there. If they seem interested I'll loan them the miniseries to see if they'll get hooked.

Pnut I am beginning to like you more and more...
Boondock Saints is a movie about a couple of brothers who believe that their form of vigilante justice is god's work (pnut correct me if I am wrong).
I feel it is a must-rent for any shooter/crime drama fan.
Do it.
Arista
August 26th, 2008, 01:23 PM
Okay, this looks like a good place to start...
1. What's your name?
I answer to Arista. This "nugget" is a little nervous about revealing her real first name to a bunch of strangers.
2. Where you from?
The Mid-Atlantic USA.
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
Well, it's Greek and means "the best" (no, really). Don't worry. I'm not full of myself, by any means. It's just a nickname.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
25 with 7 years of experience, so I have it pretty well down pat.
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
Umm, I'm not sure. I've never really given it much thought.
6. BSG in a word:
Fan-frakking-tastic.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I'd watched the original series when I was a kid. Despite my best intentions, I never really got into the new series because I always had something going on when it was airing and I just recently got a DVR (what did I ever do without it??). I missed the mini completely and still haven't seen it (yes, yes... I know). I was at home with the flu for a couple of days and Sci-Fi Channel was airing a BSG marathon in preparation for the fourth season. Well, seeing as how I wasn't really moving, I tuned in. Fell in love with it and have been trying to get myself completely caught up. Like I said, still haven't seen the mini and have missed a few episodes here and there, but I've got a pretty good grasp of what's gone (and is going) on.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
I just get teased for watching it. For some reason, a lot of the people in my 'circle' seem to think they're "too good" for the show. Oh well. Their loss.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
I just saw "33" a couple of days ago and I really liked that episode. I'm not sure it was my "favorite", but I'll get back to you on this one.
10. Fave character?
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. I (fortunately or unfortunately) see a lot of myself in her-- both good and bad. Consider that your forewarning. *lol*
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
Cheesy goodness.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
I was obsessed with "V" when I was a kid. It got so bad that my mother ended up hiding the tape. She was afraid she'd commit homicide if she had to watch it one more time.
Okay, I think someone needs to clearly define sci-fi for me, because I consider "T:TSCC" to be sci-fi. "Torchwood"?
13. Favourite other TV shows?
"Bones"... I don't really watch that much television.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Eee... tough one. Movies that suck me in when I see them on TV are "Office Space", "The Princess Bride" (I know...), and "Grease" (again, I know...).
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
"Plan 9 From Outer Space." Damn you, Ed Wood.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Charlize Theron
Johnny Depp
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
"The X-Files: I Want to Believe." Well, if you were an X-Files fan, you might like it. It wasn't like "OMFG!!111 The greatest movie EVAH!", but it was enjoyable.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
I'll get back to you. I'm sure most of you have seen anything I could come up with.
19. What are you listening to these days?
At this very moment, I'm listening to "I Don't Care" by Apocolyptica.
20. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
"Barbie Girl" by Aqua. I realize even the song is horrible, but it always makes me want to dance... just before wanting to shoot myself.
21. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Wow... you're asking the hard questions. Lately, I've started to really hate Tool and Rage Against the Machine.
22. Best gig you've been to?
Judas Priest. I was completely blown away.
23. Favourite drink?
Water.
24. Favourite food?
A good Philly cheesesteak.
25. Last book you read?
"Operating System Concepts with Java". It was for a class I was taking.
26. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
I'll pass. You never know who's reading.
27. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
... feel really sorry for everyone else.
28. Moment of 2008?
Standby. I haven't had my "moment of 2008" yet.
29. Caprica will be....
Not sure. I haven't really read or seen anything about it.
westie
August 26th, 2008, 02:40 PM
Guess I should.... lol
10. Fave character?
Kara Thrace... She's so hot...
*Cheers* Finally, someone else. Seriously, I was beginning to wonder if I was going mad...
Genji, I am hurt and appalled that you have not yet memorised every post on this thread:
Hurt. :bad:

THIS!!!
Tool are so overrated. Singer is reasonable, drummer is very good but the songs are gash and the guitar is offensively bland.
RATM have the worst riffs known to man.

In the bathroom at the local strip club... second stall. I find it's got more of a "seedy" feel to it than an alley. Besides, "Jade" (she does this crazy thing involving ping pong balls) is pretty good company.

Commodore
August 30th, 2008, 10:44 AM
Time to jump in.
1. What's your name?
Chuck
2. Where you from?
New Jersey, USA
3. That's an interesting forum nick, what's it mean?
I'm a fan of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, and Commodore is a (rare) title that would fit both it and BSG. As for my tag, I also realized that I was a card-carrying member of the CWA union--though in this case it is the Communication Workers of America.
4. So, are you over 25 or under it?
37 (that's over)
5. If you could live anywhere else where would it be?
On a yacht cruising the Indian ocean.
6. BSG in a word:
entertriguing
6B. Extraneous comment
While I enjoy drama, intrigue, suspense, action, I find the most pleasure in amusement. You may notice this in my posts.
7. How did you get into BSG?
I watched the original series as a kid, while eating dinner in front of the TV. Dirk Benedict was the best (loved him on A Team as well), and will always be the Starbuck for me. He was never a whiner (at least not a serious one).
I shunned the new series as likely a poor remake (cf: several Knight Rider spinoffs). Then I borrowed the DVDs from the library, and really got into it.
8. Do you still have to qualify 'yeah you should check out the new Battlestar series, it's really good' with the sentence 'it's not particularly sci-fi'?
I never even get that far. As soon as I say I watch it, eyes glaze over.
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
Faith. Finally something happens after too many episodes of Starbuck falling apart, and Cally falling apart, and Tyrol falling apart, etc. Plus, Natalie pulls the trigger on another Six. Cool.
10. Fave character?
Baltar before he became Jesus; Tyrol before he had a breakdown; Natalie before she died (she pulled the trigger...yeah, I mentioned that). Who now? Not Lee or Starbuck, they are overdramatically annoying. I guess Tigh or D'Anna. (Gosh, now that I think about it, maybe I am a Cylon sympathizer.)
11. Old BSG... good or gash?
It will always have a special place in my heart.
12. Favourite non-BSG bit of sci-fi?
Original Star Wars, Serenity/Firefly
13. Favourite other TV shows?
Besides the NFL, the only other show I try to watch regularly is The Soup (a sarcastic recap of the week in TV and entertainment). Ironically, this is on Friday nights at 10 pm, the same time as BSG locally. At least it gives me something to watch in the off-season.
14. What's your favourite film of all time (just one)?
Um, I'll pick Empire Strikes Back. (Yeah, I guess I am a Cylon sympathizer.)
15. Film that most made you regret having eyes?
No idea of the name: about a multi-black belt kung-fu pacifist Buddhist who would not fight in an illegal international death tournament until the villains killed everyone he loved, and were about to kill his wife. I can still tease my wife about that one, as she picked it at the video store.
16. Favourite actor(s)?
Harrison Ford. Mark Wahlberg.
17. Last film seen in cinema (and how was it)?
I've got two kids under 7, who has time for the movie theatre? Last one I saw on the big screen was Revenge of the Sith. The prequels were like seeing old friends again, who have gone crazy.
18. Recommend a film we've probably not seen.
For Olmos fans, the Wonderful Ice Cream Suit. Light and amusing.
18. What are you listening to these days?
The radio
19. Name a song you like by a band that sucks horribly:
Don't know
20. Most hated band/s (go on have five)?
Most country bands
21. Best gig you've been to?
Don't know
22. Favourite drink?
Lemonade
23. Favourite food?
Makhani murghi (tandoori chicken in an Indian tomato/cream sauce)
24. Last book you read?
Encyclopedia Brown volume 6. For myself: Jhegaala.
25. Desert Island crumpet (US translation - chick/guy you'd like to get saucy with)?
Madhur Jaffrey--love those sauces!
26. If I was king/queen of the world I would....
Depose myself--death to tyrants!
27. Moment of 2008?
Don't know.
28. Caprica will be....
What is the point? Can there be love after the mystery is gone?

If that's possible then only the admins can do it, not me. All I can do is what any user can do, which is to look at the Who's Online page (which I do to see what hot topics users are checking out). Alas, none came so I thought I might have overstepped the boundaries of decorum, which anyone will tell you I'm loathe to do. .)
Another use for Who's Online (is it anyway?) is that those yahoo and google crawlers sometimes dig up really interesting ancient threads that you'd never come across yourself if you were looking.
I saw it and spent the night coming up with an excellent comeback....
nah, in reality, I saw it, was actually quite amused, but didn't want to derail the thread.... guess that failed!
This is the kind of thread that needs additional comment and discussion. Otherwise, it's just a dead record of what bands people like/dislike.

Yes, telling people it's not the 2nd Book of Mormon (that it was never crossed my mind till I came to this forum)
9. Fave episode of new BSG?
The bits of "Faith" I've come across
