In 2006 a group of fan fiction writers (formerly of the BS Gemicon from the Sci Fi Forums) opened a site for a collaborative Fan Fiction story based on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. The premise was one of another surviving Battlestar and some of her escort ships. The Battlestar was the Libra.

Since beginning the story we have completed 31 chapters (also referred to as episodes). At present we have no plans to wind down the story, even after BSG wraps in 2009. Our goal is to continue on (that is depending on what Ronald D Moore has in store for the finale).

The site is known by a few of you and hopefully those that do not know of its existence will endeavor to check it out. The site is Battlestar Central (http://www.battlestarcentral.com) and was set up as a fan fiction forum of sorts. Other than the Libra story there are works by XRaiderV1, Rangerlord, Dracodian, Wolfcannon, JCDTexas, and Silon, to name a few.

If you are interested we would love for you to stop by and read the stories of your choice, post your thoughts, ideas, and even tell us what you don't like.

I was thinking of posting the story here as well hovever I know the 1st episode alone is the equivalent of almost 75 - 80 typed pages.

I'll be watching this thread as well if you want to post here about it.

Many thanks to Joe Beaudoin Jr. for allowing me to join this site. It's a great place pal, I think i'll stay a while.

Thanks all,

Hazend

One would think that out of 120 battlestars in the fleet, plus who knows how many smaller ships, SOME others would have survived. Maybe they heard Adama's message about rendevousing at Ragnar Anchorage but arrived too late, and ran into that Cylon fleet. Maybe they just ran out of fuel in space someplace... Lots of interesting possibilities for fan-fiction. Maybe I will do something from the Cylon point of view...

That particular question is answered (as far as the Libra is concerned) in the first two episodes. Here is the link for the first episode so that everyone can read it and comment.

Here is the third episode of the series. This episode deals with the events surrounding what the Libra finds when it reaches Ragnar Anchorage:

I'm already at episode 16, and I have to say that I like reading this story. Especially the story of Marcus is intriguing.

Just one question. The last episode is episode 31 right? At what time in the real series is episode 31?

Hazend

The last episode thus far is Episode 31: Fleet Action. It is set approximately Eight months after the attack on the colonies. We're in the middle of the episode now and hope to have it completed by the end of July or so (depends on everyone's schedules). Episode 32 will be along the lines of the episode "Before The Storm" where we had a retrospective of the lives of the different characters prior to the cylon attacks.

Ahh, too bad. And nobody is suggesting or has been given permission to pick it up?:(

Marcus dissapeared with the two ships he wrote. As they jumped out they never appeared with the rest of the fleet. All are presumed lost (Leaves a door open)

Am I wrong or does it seem that the fleet does not have that many marines any more? where are the 1400 marines that the Intrepid fleet saved at day Zero? Or did most of them die with the Intrepid? Half the (military) fleet's MarDet is taking part in the action in #29 so that's 461 marines. So there are like 950 marines on all the military ships. Does that mean that there are A LOT of martial law marines on board of the civilian ships? Or does that mean that the original Battlestar group #26 didn't have a lot of marines on board?

Many of the Marines are conducting Martial Law duties. THe remainder are conducting their standard duties.

The marines conducting Martial Law duties aren't counted at this point.

**Edit: My mistake. I was thinking of another of War Angel's characters. The Marcus storyline was dropped when he left. We haven't picked it up due to the fact he came up with it however another story is in the works along those same lines. It is entitled Aquaria Knights and will begin next year.**

When Martial Law is ended, can you perhaps ask the writers for a Marine tally? I'm curious to know how many are left.

I can do better than that. I'll put it into one of the posts in thie current episode. That way we'll have it "in stone".

Thanks:thumbsup:. Are you guys posting on a regular basis? I just finished reading page 11 of episode 31. So I'm very curious how the story will progress from this point. Episode 29 was also really good and episode 31 is also really good uptil now.

Generally we do post on a regular basis barring our real lives. Depending on that we may pick up or slow down a bit.

We give ourselves a loose timeline of how long we want to allow posting for an episode. Of course our main goal is to finish the episode correctly and in a manner that is enjoyable by everyone.

Thanks for the props and check back daily. We post as often as we can.

As always, please post your thoughts and observations. While we write this as our own enjoyment we also write for others to read and comment on.

Georgio, when martial law was ended, the Marines who were performing duties there were given the option of being released by the military and serving as civilian law enforcement. Not all who were doing martial law duty chose that option, but others performing regular Marine duties were also given the option. For ease of counting, we figured the number of Marines who opted to get out and become civilian law enforcement were the same total number as martial law Marines.

I hope that's not too confusing!

I do have the current total number of Marines assigned, by ship, if you're interested in seeing that! (This would be less those who became civilian law enforcement.)

That explains everything. Please give me the current number if that isn't too much work. Thanks a lot pal. I also want to ask you to post a message in my Life After Death+ joining thread. It's also about joining Battlestarcentral.com, perhaps one of the writers can get more people to the site?

Apologies that it has taken me so long to post. Currently plans are in the works to take the archived Libra episodes and convert them over to Adobe PDF format. Once this is done the entire episode can be downloaded.

As this hasn't been completed yet I am posting the link to the next episode in the series for those who haven't yet read it and are interested.
