I used to think that the F5 might have been among the lords of Kobol. But now we see they were living ordinary lives on the 13th colony 2,000 years ago, around the time of the exodus from Kobol. And that they were caught unawares by a giant attack.
This makes it less likely they were Lords of Kobol, because we are told that we will learn why both these events are dated 2,000 years ago. Yes, it is possible that they could differ by a few decades and thus the F5 could have gone to Kobol after death on Earth to participate in the battle of the exodus there.
However, it is possible the F5 created the Lords of Kobol. Remember the F5 go back not 2,000 years but at least 4,000 years, to the Temple of Five.
You just gave me a crazy idea.
It would be an interesting twist if the "Lords of Kobol" were the guardians of a program, and the five individual parts could be combined to create something important. The programs could be dormant and passed on through the generations, to one day be "triggered" by some event. (Sounds almost religious and ceremonial, doesn't it?) The body isn't important. D'Anna's vision of the FF represents the current guardians of the program in this generation.

I used to the the FF were cast off Lords of Kobol too, but now I think it's clear that they are not. The fact that the FF were exhiled from Kobol 4000 years ago, suggests conflict with the Lords of Kobol, rather then harmony. Maybe the Lord's objected to the creation of more beings who could be mistaken for gods. It does seem from the apparently mundane lives the FF lived on Earth, that they had chosen to live on Earth as members of the population, not gods. (Although, Anders was apparently a rock star. )
If anyone is a Lord of Kobol - Kara is (if she is indeed Aurora.) But I still also think that the Lords were Cylons. Cylons have too many qualities that could be mistaken for gods. What if Aurora and the other LOK turned out to be Cylons even older then the FF. It sure would neatly explain Kara's resurrection without getting too far gone into magic.
The other LOK candidates are the Head People. But it's going to be nearly impossible to explain the Head People without magic.

The other LOK candidates are the Head People. But it's going to be nearly impossible to explain the Head People without magic.
One explanation was, "everyone is a Cylon, therefore these Head people are triggered programs, or downloaded entities interacting with them." I point out, the Head characters have only appeared to four characters: Baltar, Caprica Six, Starbuck, and Hera. Before you say, "Hera could be having visions of the Opera House and nothing more", I say, she has the look of the Hollywood staple "disturbed child hearing voices". In the Revelations podcast, RDM described her as being "distant". The little girl is visibly preoccupied and I believe Baltar's Head Six is the cause.
Back to the original point. These four characters could be "fundamentally different" from the rest, enabling them to see the Head characters. How they are fundamentally different is a matter of dispute (and who knows? it may never be fully explained).

Which comes back to Timbo's theory of Seventeen. I wholeheartedly approve.

Sixteen, but you could throw Roslin into the lot based on her headache at the Ionian Nebula and the Head Timbo--Seventeen.

If it ISNT our earth, and our populated [with humans, such as, myself] exists, or another location exists, with "normal humans"... It throws an interesting facet into the show for me. That the only remaining "tragedy" that can befall the unoverse in this show is the loss of information. I would automatically loose all interest in all the characters because of this fact.
I read a lot on this forum (and write, myself) about the destruction of the fleet as being the ultimate tragety. If a planet exists with a pure human culture in the BSG univers at the current interval. The great tragedy has already befallen collonial culture. 13 plannets, + however many people that entails (i forget)... and however many battlestars. If there is already a thriving human culture, as "we" know it, a group of ~40,000 would likely be assymilated into our monotheistic culture... so at that point. It would just be a question of "do you want to se Kara Thrace die on space, or on a planet? Because otherwise, it could be 40,000 people, 4 people, or 4 volumes of a video describing the circumstances and culture shot to the planets surface and i wouldnt care either way.
If we HAVE seen earth, and some tragedy had befallen it wiping US out, and the colonials are our decendants.... I dont think that the events of BSG take place in our past, as that wouldnt work with the fossil record. and the last remaining hmans in the universe, then there remains some significance in their survival.
