Anyone here ever read Alan Moore/Dave Gibbon's Watchmen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen)? It is probably the best graphic novel I have ever read. I highly recommend it even if you do not enjoy/like comics.

I read it but it is not my favorite Moore. The obvious choice is V for Vendetta but I actually love Lost Girls (warning it contains adult content) much more. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is also good as is Batman: The Killing Joke.

Wow. That's the first time anyone's ever thanked me for posting anything. And it has nothing to do with BSG.

1 contribution by yours truly! I always planned on doing more, but by the time I can devote any time to doing the research, it's already there.

That's fine but that one contribution (so far) really pleased me.

The 'Watchmen' graphic novel is by far my favourite in the genre. i have just reread it recently after leaving it for a few years, and it really blew me away. I find the older I get the more i can relate to the themes within the book.
It's pretty weighty, the way it deals with adult themes is truly mindbogglingly fantastic. I feel that they will probably strip out a lot of this in the film and keep it as a simple whodunnit, but it does look like the filmmakers have tried to remain true to the framing of the scenes in relation to the book, which is good.
I think 'V for Vendetta' is a little more naive, but still hugely enjoyable. I havent seen the film, but I have been lead to believe that many elements have been altered, i suppose commetning on Thatcherite Britain would have been stupid.

@Genji: I think i'll thank you just for the hell of it :D.
And yes, I have read Watchmen. It is possibly one of the greatest graphic novels I have ever read. Really a different story about superheroes and crimefighters and honestly shows what could happen if you pushed them to the limits of their tolerance.
@Zod: I never liked the V for Vendetta graphic novel, I actually liked the movie more in all honesty. I thought it did a better job of creating a point than the book.

Are you fucking mad? I like the film, but it's definitely the ladybird version.
