I've searched on the board, but can't seem to see an answer to the question I'm going to ask. Anyway, I'm a long time IRC user, so want to know if there are any good IRC channels devoted to the new BSG that I could pop into?

I know, some of us have been left in the last century. ;) What would you say if I told you that I frequently use Usenet?

At least you're not using CompuServe or Prodigy. :P

I do use IRC, it is a nice gathering place without the useless bells and whistles the other IM systems have. The focus is the conversation.
And although I am relatively young, I did use the local equvalents of Prodigy/Compuserve at the time, but no usenet. The access to it was dodgy to say the least, and it didn't appeal to me enough to actively get involved.
And then came the forums in the world wide web.

I can always start one up, but again the interest is not there. During episode airings would it be useful. I'll think about it for the May 30th episode as it's always fun to discuss BSG with others as the show is airing.

Well, that would be a neat thing to set up. Maybe it won't get much interest during normal times, but during the episodes, it should garner some interest, not just on this forum, but maybe from those on the network you'll be on (unless you're planning on hosting a small server instead of using one of the networks). Look forward to the 30th, if it goes ahead, although I probably won't be staying too long, due to being in the UK and five hours ahead of EST.

I'm on IRC all the time. If anyone sets up a chatroom lemme know and I'll join in!

I'd love for a Java client. I love mIRC but as I'm on OS X now I don't have any good, free, IRC clients. Quite sad actually.

Yes, I still have IRC up an running after all these years. On pidgin in the background. I liked skype, but it isn't stable on linux. It's on in the background, and I only look when I get pinged. Then again, gmail interface makes it kinda seamless.

I was thinking of ways to make an Java IRC application a "plugin" with the forums. Something might be on the horizon. :D

Have that, don't care for it. There was a nice one I found but it was paid so I could only use it for trial period and then had to ditch.
