This will be the episode that the Final Cylon will be reveled.

Facts:

RDM is the Writer and Director of this episode
412 started filming directly after the WGA strike ended and has now ended before the potential SAG strike.
No name yet released.
Calling sheets for this episode have not been found.
Earth is found from the previous episode closing that story line

I can not find anything to otherwise prove my theory wrong.

412 as per production's numbering (ie razor = 401 & 402) or "season" numbering (razor not counted) ?

If it is the first, then it will be before the summer break, right?

You mean 414, Shane. 412 is episode 10. RDM is directing the 12 episode of the season, ergo production #414.

Isn't it interesting that it seems that the show will continue after both the 5th of the final five is revealed and "earth" is found? But only for 8 more episodes before the definitive end. Still clinging to the possibility that the earth that is found in the next couple of episodes is not-earth (and to the theory of the interference in human/cylon affairs by the beings of light).

Very interesting, thanks for the info.

I have seen spoilers/rumours (unconfirmed) that the name of this episode would be "The disquiet that follows my soul". Would be an appropriate title I suppose, given what the old hybrid said about the fifth (about great suffering and clawing toward the light and all).

Hey Joe, the battlestar wiki series 4 guide says episode 12 is currently titled "Untitled 412"

No official name, but there is a rumoured one, as I wrote.

The rumors for the episode titles are:
413 - Sometimes a Great Notion
414 - The Disquiet That Follows My Soul
415 - The Oath
416 - Blood on the Scales
417 - No Exit
These are attributed to Koenigrules. Also a script portion was posted in the casting sides identifying 420 as "Someone to Watch Over Me"

Until it is on the SciFi site I guess it is considered a rumor.

Nice. I am 99.99% sure this is the episode that shows us the final cylon.

I agree - I also remembering hearing that an actor confirmed the revelation occurs in this episode, but I can't remember who or where.
I wonder how the writers will deal with a post-revelation denouement; I imagine 412 will be jaw-dropping, as it was written as a potential last episode and I trust RDM would not have allowed a sub-par series finale. On the other hand, they may have shot several different versions of key scenes in the event that they were able to do a full 20 episode season. In any event, I imagine the revelation will shake the show to its roots and the remaining 8 episodes' tension and narrative will focus on conflict between different factions of Colonials and Cylons - perhaps the conflict will threaten the viability of settling Earth.

It makes a lot of sense that the 12th cylon would be revealed in the last episode aired this year. Then we'll spend the rest of the year dying to know what the consequences of the revelation will be.

Oh, the agony will continue!!!!!!!!!!!! But at least we'll finally know one thing.

I'm glad they're not dragging out finding Earth or the final cylon to the very last episode. DS9 of VOY both dragged out the story until the very end and then the last episode it was like *bam* here's the ending.

This show has always been about character interactions and it would be a cheat for the series finale to be like, "HE'S THE FINAL CYLON...AND THERE'S EARTH! HOORAY!!!!" ...aaaaand cut.

this is good news. it means they'll actually spend some time on earth and get into what that means. i far prefer that to the Star Trek Voyager type ending that was really a bust. that's not a jeri ryan joke btw

Indeed, the last episode of voyager had very little to say that it was the last episode (in other words had you not known it was the last one, you'd have very little to go on to tell you it was from the story) until the last five minutes or so when you actually realised they would actually reach Earth.

:offtopic:

In Voyager I wished they did do more of the Earth return other than a reunion. I would have loved to see that alternate ending news story to the end. Something tells me she was pissed off about it. :p

:ontopic:

The reason I love this show is because it sets up the suspense on the number of times the hidden cylons have staied so hidden. You can't get a better drama than that.

Agree with Shane. But even more so. It seems to me that every scene this year has a sense of urgency. With the end rapidly approaching, that end is hanging over every one's head and I think the writers and the actors are getting that across brilliantly this season.

There are a lot of ramifications to finding Earth that should be addressed:

1. Is there anyone still alive there?
2. What technologies are available there?
3. Is there any point to settling down when we still have that Cylon fleet on our tail?

I seem to remember before season 4 started that someone (RDM, an actor, ???) said there will be an event (s) midway through that will make viewers think the show has ended. (I assumed it would be finding earth.... later assumed it would be discovering the final cylon (when they announced the new opening texts)..... it never occurred to me it would be BOTH).

Maybe the equivalent of Terra...or something like that, just like another poster of this forum pointed out

I don't have the link to the interview to hand, but Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyroll) has been quoted as saying that the episode they finished filming right before the writers strike was very dark and, if it was to be used as the final episode of the show, would be the darkest ending to a series he has ever seen.

It seems the earth and final cylon reveal will be coming in the space of the same two or three episodes, probably episodes 11, 12 and 13 (by the show numbering convention).

anyone think it's a coincidence that the big reveal is likely to happen on ep 12, what with the shows fascination with the number 12? Not that there's any special plot revealing significance to this, but it would be kinda apropos.

Hence on why RDM is directing the episode.

You're the fifth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5WPM_obGic)

Saul draws on Bill.
Roslin burns pages from her Book of Pythia.
Kara sits in front of a beach bonfire and closes her eyes.
Kara hides dogtags cupped in her hand.
Tyrol lays hands on the ruins of the Temple of Aurora.
Adama cries, touching his head to the shrouded head of a covered body.
In voiceover Tigh whispers, "You're the fifth."*

The final revelation is yet to come. Coming soon. Surprise us Bonnie, you can do it.

Brought to you by the worst spoiler source of them all, the indiscriminate, indiscreet Sci Fi channel. I cannot believe they aired that!

*(Eddie's hair. Mary's hand. Roslin's personal edition of the scrolls. See Revelations for Lee holding the same book. Kara's wedding ring is on her dogtag chain. Aaron's thumb. Not as sure that's Hogan whispering.)

Are you sure it's Tigh who whispers this? It sounds so distorted, I'm not sure.

The bonfire rumour about Kare appears to be true, allthough we don't know yet if she burns (a copy of) her own body as the complete rumour said. Allthough the dogtags - it's looking like it is true. How do we explain that? Did RDM and D'Anna lie, and is she the final Cylon? Then again, the FF don't have copies that we know off. Was she cloned?

The body: Roslin? Then again, it isn't the first time Adama has cried over a body, so not necessarily. Still, she probably will buy it in 4.5, from a dramatic POV they almost cannot go the route of miraculously saving her a second time.

It was Tigh

I would not be surprised, if there turned out to be two (or more) revelations of the 5th cylon.

First, one in Episode 411 (following the hiatus) that would tie up the story sufficiently in case the writers' strike would have caused that to be the final episode.

Then, another different one in episode 412, that would question the first one in order to bring the story back to speed. It might also be enough just to raise serious doubts concerning the first revelation.

I recall reading somewhere that the actors themselves were still uncertain of the identity of the 5th cylon even in very late episodes.

It is not impossible that Tigh's "you are the final one" is footage from a much later episode, even though only "sometimes a great notion" is certainly finished. The rest aren't finished products yet for the most part, but other than the 3-part final, all other eps have been filmed. With some basic editing, they could get short scenes out. Especially if it's only a short audio-only piece.

Chicago Tribune: Katee Sackhoff offers Starbuck clue: 'necklace o' death' (http://weblogs.redeyechicago.com/showpatrol/2008/07/sackhoff-offers.html) 7/28/08

"For anyone who’s been a fan of the show, ... [they know that] on her [dog tag necklace] for the last two years she’s had a ring and a dog tag. She ends the series with a ring, a dog tag and a bullet." - Katee Sackhoff

For a related note, need to bump my post from 11/15/07 about a news item that broke during the WGA strike (http://www.battlestarforum.com/showpost.php?p=2473&postcount=34), after principal filming of the eleventh episode was complete.

...Michael "Anders" Trucco has already signed another deal: Reuters: "Battlestar" actor gets "Dreams" job on NBC sitcom (http://www.reuters.com/article/peopleNews/idUSN1522047220071115)

No statement from Trucco yet. The character of Anders might well be... you know.

Revelations and Sometimes A Great Notion were produced in parallel at once, two different directors helming each episode and shooting on the same days. I'd guess that by mid-November both episodes were finishing the last stages of pre-preproduction, if not beginning filming by that time. In other words, if you're going to get killed off in any of the eleven episodes, you'd know about by mid-November.

Would that be a spent bullet Kara adds to her dog chain, to symbolically join with her wedding ring?

According to the Patriot Resource, the episode "No exit" (the 5th episode to air after the break) has, together with the other 3 Dylan Cylons, Anders name on the casting list (or Trucco's, actually, I suppose). So wouldn't seem to die in the very next episode. It was also said by the actor that the writers would try to work in the scar he received in his car accident.

No idea what the bullet is for, then.

This episode ("the disquiet that follows my soul", I mean) will apparently get an extended version on DVD. It's looking more and more likely again that the final Cylon will play a role in it, as the reveal is now rumoured to be already in "sometimes a great notion", and the fallout of the reveal could well take place in this RDM-directed episode. I wonder if this is the episode of which Grace Park had to read the script 3 times to "get it", and where a lot supposedly gets explained.
