I remember some debate on whether or not the Centurions are all robotic or partly organic. I'm re watching the whole series right now and I came across Something interesting. In season 3 episode 7: 17:50 when the sick Skinjobs are brought aboard Galactica, Admiral Adama is interrogating one of them. The Cylon says that, "It infected everything. Baseship, Centurions, Raiders...And so we were finally abandoned by the other Cylon ships." The disease is lymphocytic encephalitis which is said to be carried by rats which are a purely organic life form(or maybe scary Cylon rats!) It infected Skinjobs which we know are organic, Raiders which know know are organic, and Basestars which have organic parts. One could therefore deduce that Centurions are somewhat organic as well. In order for totally non organic Centurions to be infected, the disease would have to impossibly manifest itself into a computer virus and we can probably assume that the Centurions have Bitdefender installed.:lol:

The problem if i renember well was not the virus itself but the inmune response of the Cylon system to the virus wich would explain the transmision of the "dissease" throught downloading sinze the downloading process only involves software and any phisical virus would be left behind..
that inmune response is what would be transmited via software and because its software it may infect too centurions

They are partially organic. Watch closely when one of them gets shot in the head.

They're not organic, as far as we know.

They are controlled by the Hybrid on each basestar. The reason why they "succumbed" to the virus is because the Hybrid was infected, causing problems throughout the ship.

Every time I've seen them hit in the head I just see metal. Do you have an episode or screen shot to show us?

In the latest episode "Faith," the centurian guarding the hybrid sences danger and shoots the Sharon model who is attempting to disconnect the hybrid from the basestar. The centurion reacts like a pet dog protecting its master.

It is entirely possible to have a completely mechanized machine that is controled by a very small organic componet. This seems consistant with the theme of the reimagination.

I remember some debate on whether or not the Centurions are all robotic or partly organic.

"Cylon" name comes from "cybernetics," which is the human-machine interaction. Literally, it means "to steer." A joystick is an example of a cybernetic device, so is a monitor, a speaker, a microphone, and any other device that controls (or allows) the input or output from the robotic nature to the human conscience.

In the TOS, the IL-Cylons seem to be significant to network an alien conscience to the cylons.

In the reimagined series, the hybrids appear significant. The cylons used to use real humans for the hybrids. It is stated as no longer needed, but there isn't much backstory to explain what happened. About all we know is that the hybrids speak about the hybrids higher conscience vomit.
